I got it in the Total Studio 3 Bundle... I just wish they'd get these ST based plugins up to date... IK is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY behind... and losing it's fan base pretty quick... Oh...except for the iFans...whom they are butt kissing right now... I guess it's better to sell 10,000 $5 apps as opposed to a few thousand $100 programs.... A CADA SU PROPIO...

For $49, I might indulge. Miroslav is the only one I don't already have, just the light version and I dig it. Where else am I going to find such a decent orchestral library for so little money, anyway. In fact, along w/ Sampletron and SampeMoog, it's probably my favorite IK product.

If this suits your specs and all that then it's a great programme. Yeah it's dated in the GUI department and could do with a facelift but it sounds good for us background string users. For anyone thinking about it you should listen to the video demo. It sounds like that in reality. If that's the sound you like then go for it.

I first heard Miroslav at our wedding. A friend of ours had stayed up all night and put together a goth-symphonic-metal version of the wedding march as a gift. It sounded amazing. Hard to believed he'd pull that one off so quickly. Of course, the groom was soon off to discuss the technical details and inquire about the orchestral library w/ the aforementioned friend. ;)

Yup - got the email and this sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Reviews when it first came out said that it requires a dongle, though this is not mentioned in the offer as far as I can see. Have emailed Allen @ esoundz to find out.

strikinglyhandsome1 No dongle. It's IK stuff. That's what I would have thought, but then there's this from the review on musicradar... "Miroslav Philharmonik is powered by a custom version of SampleTank 2.5 and features a reverb effect that's specially designed for classical music. Although installing the software is comparatively easy, the copy-protection system is unusually over-the-top. Miroslav Philharmonik is protected both by a Syncrosoft USB 'dongle' and an internet-based software registration procedure." ..... and this from the SOS review ..... "The box's one surprise, a USB copy-protection key, is a first for IKM;"

They did away with the dongle long ago. That SOS review is probably from, what, 2002?

Yeah we haven't used a dongle in ages. We also have AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix for $49.99 / €39.99.

Looks tempting. Anybody know how they handle different articulations? Do they use keyswitching? Or do you have to load each articulation as a separate instrument?

Classik is the light edition, with a smaller 1.5 ish GB library. The full version comes w/ 7GB of samples. I've just finished installing it (the full version I mean) a few minutes ago and only did a few little test so I didn't really dig deep, but it sure sounds good. If you're after that type of orchestral sound and can live w/ a 32 bits plug-ins, I'd say jump on it.

Sorry, no keyswitching, trek. There is, however, a way to implement articulations. The same way they're commonly done in many guitar sample libraries: velocity layers. Add in keyboard splits and this method is actually more versatile than you might think.

This is a great deal on a classic virtual instrument library. I find myself using it all the time to add extra character to some of my arrangements.
