Aside from all the sodium Ramen's not a bad diet. Just load it up with cheap veggies, fresh garlic, hot sauce and whenever possible some chopped up meat (cheap cuts). If you do it right it's like Pho you'd get charged 8 bucks for in a restaurant.

I had to survive on one Mars candy bar a day for a while. No fun. Even if their slogan was " A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play". My younger brother's band had an address on their web site for fans to send them Ramen's - I think they were on a similar diet as yours. By the way, are Ramen's really cheaper than a huge bag regular chinese noodles or other pastas? Seems that w/ the stuff you put in them, you could actually cook a decent healthy meal.

I do all my shopping at Whole Foods these days. And everyone keeps telling me I'm wasting my money because that place is overpriced. The thing is though, for everyday staples like bread, milk, cheese, cereal, canned foods etc, it's actually on par with (and sometimes cheaper than) the skanky Key Foods around the corner from me, and all of the stuff's much nicer and a hell of a lot healthier. I don't buy anything "fancy" (which is where Whole Foods starts getting expensive). I buy Thai Kitchen noodles and they're not that much pricier than Ramen noodles, except they have no crap in them and have a reasonable sodium content. My God though I love noodles.

Whole Food and Trader Joe's. In NY, we had the Amish Market on the way home. Actually, we first went there when Irene hit NY last year - it had been spared by the masses. The nearest Food Emporium was in a a post-zombie apocalypse state. The one place I promised myself never to go back to is Sprout Farmer Market here in Vegas. Almost everything is twice the price. Where else do you get to see a gallon of milk for $7 and a pint of cottage cheese for $5? The good news is that I've finally found decent Hoisin sauce here in - I wasn't that lucky in NY. Now, I only need to find chinese noodles like the ones we had in Quebec...

feeling like a pirate are we? On the Raman thing...... rice and beans are just as cheap and much better for you since they come out of the bag with none of the salt and other chemicals in the Raman death packs. Cheap and quick isn't always the best.... besides, rice doesn't take all that long to cook. Add vegies and salt & pepper to taste...... instant meal for low cost.

@rain... Yeah, I hear that. What I used to do when I actually had a proper kitchen was buy some powdered chicken broth that wasn't so crazy loaded with salt and use that instead of the packets. Then I'd save the packets and make rub marinades for beef roasts and chickens. Delish! I've bought the rice vermicelli before but I didn't really like it and it's kind of a pain to deal with. It doesn't have the same texture either. BTW... I've been sloooowly typing up some pinky exercises for you. Just been doing so many different things I haven't wrapped them up yet.

Oh and I'd eat more rice but because I don't have a stove top at the moment I have to buy those packets of microwave stuff and that gets pricey/unhealthy. All this is going to change soon though.

This aaaargh was actually inspired by that thingy I'm working on. Not because the recording itself was causing problems but just as I was trying to finish up last night one of the other people in the house came knocking on my door about some inane problem that had nothing to do with me. I cannot get any peace around here and it messes up my workflow in a major way. However I'll be in my new recording room soon so hopefully I'll be able to focus uninterrupted. Man that'll be nice. tl;dr... I would have had that stuff done last night if I wasn't surrounded by weirdos and their weirdo problems. Probably be done tonight barring any more stupidity.

If you do it right it's like Pho you'd get charged 8 bucks for in a restaurant. Yes! That's actually a good way to do it particularly without using the included seasoning and dehydrated vegetable packs. I always keep a bottle of good quality soy sauce on hand and my own blend of Asian seasoning. Other times I simply add a few eggs (roughly scrambled) a dash of soy and pepper and that's it... believe it or not that is truly a great combo and is a popular Asian breakfast... but I'll eat it anytime! @ Rain, I think it's best to buy larger bulk packs of egg noodles and usually 8 individual bundles and I think it only costs about $3 per pack. Not sure which brand is best but one time I got a pack with very good use-by date but tasted old and stale.... ewww.... I guess the store manager must have kept them too long in the boot of his/her car or at the back of a smelly damp closet. @ Herb, I have rice and love to make my own stir-fry combo with whatever dead food left-overs I may have in the closet fridge So yeah... with rice or noodles as the 'base' the possibilities are endless! Post Edit: oops, I forgot to say..... ArrrrHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
