Sporting clays in the NC woods
In case you don't know, my daughter is getting married in June..... she and her soon to be husband...Chad..... my future son in law.... are all hanging at the house this weekend.... So today, the ladies decided they needed to go shopping..... for wedding dresses. Guys NOT invited. I decided some male bonding time was called for. Chad and I grabbed the Browning.... 100 shells and headed to the closest sporting clays range in the area. Chad nails one : http://www.youtube.com/wa...M&feature=youtu.be Me gettin it done : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LOrAXwNd1g 13 stations with all sorts of angles and directions.... 50 shells each and a great day to blast away a bunch of innocent clays. Great time had by all in our group.

Yeah... it was a beautiful day to be outdoors. By the time we got half way through the course I was out of the jacket I wore. We were with a group of 5 folks..... so we got to meet some kindred souls in the brother and sister hood of the shotgun.

I love shooting, but only at inanimate objects (clay pigeons, paper targets, fruit, politicians or lawyers). If we ever have to rely on personal survival, I'll be one of the first casualties because I won't be able to kill my food. I've also noticed that the foods I prefer tend to look nothing like they used to when they were alive (with the exception of lobster tail - though I can't look at the whole lobster).
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Craig.... yeah... I have not hunted for many, many years.... I was a teen or early 20's last time I went hunting. I like targets. Paper, clay, stationary or moving... doesn't matter. It's about placing the round or shot correctly. All that said... I am headed on a ring neck pheasant hunt on Dec 8 with my sister & husband and son.... and from what I hear.... there might be other game birds as well. So I get to field dress some birds. We might head to the national forest as well to shoot their arsenal on the day after..... Nothing like the smell of gun powder in the morning breeze. Or the afternoon breeze......

My wife thought shooting was stupid until I threw out some yellow golf balls and she learned that she could make them dance. Then she got a big smile on her face and said... this is fun! Now she has some of these:

Sounds like fun Herb; I have n't done that in a while. You have reminded me that it is time to pull out both of my Beretta's and give them a little oil.

One should always keep their gun properly oiled. Be sure to keep your pistols, shotguns, and rifles oiled too. Mike..... I have always wanted some of those targets..... I understand they are great fun and no need to change out like the paper targets......
