X1 Bundle mixed up in Sonar 6

Tracks mixed up (Track label/.wav says vocal and it's guitar) Tracks missing. Tracks out of alignment. V-Vocal portions lost. Target and Dest OS is same W7. Tracks have no data. Is this a known bug or is 6.0 just too old to open an X1 Bundle? 6.0 Bundles open fine in X1.

I'm not aware of these programs being backwards compatible. That would be really difficult to program that way.

There's no way a project saved in X1 will open up in 6.0 without issues

Is there any particular reason you're wanting to do this?

They are backwards compatible.  I've opened Sonar6 projects in X2, no problem.

What the OP is asking is forward compatibility, which is somewhat harder, without the aid of a TARDIS vst plugin.

Often a project created in a new version of Sonar can be opened in and older version but CW has always cautioned users that this has problems.  In your example Sonar 6 wouldn't have Pro Channel the Skylight GUI and a lot of other things so why would you think Sonar 6 could open an X1 bundle or project without issues? All newer version can open older versions but the reverse is not true. What you should have done is open the old bundle in X1 and than save it using a new name. That way your old bundle would not be changed. So really it was not X1 that screwed up your bundle but you.

It's a question best asked of Cakewalk support. AFAIK the bundle format has not changed since SONAR 4, when the biggest internal changes occurred. Cakewalk's been pretty good about maintaining project-level compatibility since then.

But it's entirely possible that there is something in the X1 project that SONAR 6 can't figure out what to do with, although I'd expect it to be able to handle the audio files correctly.

Possible workaround: open the bundle in X1, bounce the V-Vocal clips, remove references to all plugins that didn't exist in S6, save it as a normal project and then open the project in SONAR 6.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

If I understand bundles files the only way to have X1 screw up the file is to save the file as a bundle file from X1. In other words overwrite the one created in Sonar 6. Even if X1/2 opened the bundle file which it doesn't really do it uncompresses them and places a project file in the folder of ones choice. Its the project file it opens not the bundle.

Thus in order to screw up a bundle file it requires the user to overwrite it. If the user saves an X1 project the bundle is still untouched.
