Sonar X2 Essential Freezing Up

I purchased Essentials last week and I'm having an issue with Cakewalk freezing up everytime I try to record.  So far I've only successfully recorded half of one song with bass, piano, synth and drums.  I'm trying to record another song and every single time I lay down any track Cakewalk freezed before anything is saved.  Below is my system:

Gateway SX2855
Intel Celeron G460 @ 1.80 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
64-Bit Operating System

I installed Essential 64 bit version.

I would really appreciate any help you guys could give me.  I never had this issue with Reaper, but Reaper was a pain to use with VST.  Essential is a far superior product but this freezing issue is really getting frustrating.

Strange... I replied to this thread, and the post never showed up.

    Here goes try 2:

    Did you install the quickfix?

hmm... I hate to say it but it might be time to upgrade your system.

However as kevo said try the Quickfix and if you haven't already done it you should take a close look at optimizing your system. In fact give Cakewalk tech support a call. They'll give you a bunch of suggestions.

In the meantime try turning up your latency buffers and freeze your tracks whenever possible to keep resource consumption down. Cheers.

I thought the quickfix was for Producer only.

Ah... perhaps. I really gotta get around to installing that thing. Not doing much on the DAW at the moment anyway though. Just a couple of light projects. Gonna start looking at some old live sets and see what R-Mix can do for them.

You are correct! The quickfix is for producer only.

Pay no attention to the dude who posted twice and got it wrong both times.

Thanks guys, adjusting the latency buffers (and running Malware to clean-up) seems to have solved the problem.  I was able to complete my bass parts and upload to dropbox for the guitarist to mix everything in.
