THIS IS ANNYOING!!
Hey, everyone. I'm having a really annoying problem; I have my guitar in a (rudimentary?) audio interface with an audio output to the line-in on my PC. (Mind you, this is the only way I can transfer audio and have it sound good) So the problem I'm having is that any time I use my Line-In jack, I can always hear myself strumming away. The biggest reason this is a concern is because I'm using some audio-to-midi FX and I want to hear the synths themselves without hearing my no-FX input behind it. Heck, it's even audible when I disable the Line Input in thesound dialog. 'Listen To' is not selected in the sound dialog, so that isn't the problem. It is audible even before I open my DAW. What is the fix for this annoying problem?

Sounds like feedback loop through the sound card on your computer. What if you make your audio interface your playback device and monitor from that?

Darn, the interface. It's rudimentary to that it's actually a portable 'digital studio'- the BOSS BR-532. I guess it would hurt to try direct line-in from my guitar....

Granted we got some real geniuses here in the Coffee House but your bound to get better help in more relevant forums(all Cakewalk forums for that matter) like this one: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tt.aspx?forumid=8 I come here for the unfunny and whimsical way people express themselves here, not that your not welcome to ask away anyway.

Do yourself a favor. Sell that thing and buy a proper USB interface. You can get a simple i/o one from Pre-Sonus or Focusrite for a little over a hundred bucks. Using the line in on you PC is gonna generally be crap. Otherwise if you have a card reader I'd take whatever track you are trying to play along to, export it to a stereo file, save it to that SD card, put it in the Boss thingy, record your part then toss it back onto your computer and back into the original project. But that is an enormous pain in the arse.

I agree. The 532 is a recorder, not an audio interface, so a modest investment in an interface designed for recording should make things a lot easier. Connect it with USB, download and install the latest drivers for your operating system and get to recording without hassles.

It does look like a handy little dealymadoo to bring to rehearsals and shows and stuff. I just find it weird the only way it let's you get stuff into your computer is with a flashcard. Must be really old or something. I see it's discontinued in many places.

Beepster Do yourself a favor. Sell that thing and buy a proper USB interface. I would agree about getting a decent interface, but I wouldn't part with the Boss unit. The COSM EFX in those things are fantastic. I use (and have for years) a Boss BR-8 between my guitar and my M-Audio 24/96, with dozens of guitar sounds that I've created and stored ready to dial in.

I'm not familiar with that unit but I love Boss guitar stuff. They're my favorite pedals. I was going on the assumption that maybe the OP was unable to afford a proper interface and if it was an either or situation I think the interface is more important and useful but yeah... even without the effect's little porta studio stuff is ultra handy. I'd actually like to get a Zoom at some point.
