Out of the blue, HS6XL is skipping and stuttering

WTF? been using my HS6XL for mainly listening to and playing along w/ songs I need to learn for my band.  Things were working great and then I took a few weeks off and when I fired things up, I was getting skipping and stuttering and dropouts.  I figured maybe I had too many tracks in one session so I took half and put them in a seperate session and still have the same problems in both sessions.

Only thing I can figure is ghosts in the machine.  I'm using an older PC (prolly around 7 years old) that I did a system restore on maybe a year or so ago.  I ran disk defrag and dsk cleanup, but to no avail.

Any other ideas?  Thanks

On my system, I sometimes lose all audio from the 0404.
I do a system restore to before that happened, and all is well.
Are you using the most current drivers?
Verify that you are using ASIO. It doesn't seem to like anything else.
Double check your latency. If it is too low, the symptoms you describe can appear.
Do you turn your computer off, or do you let it go to sleep? The XP Sleep mode sucks, and a cold start can often remedy problems.
That's all I can think of for now.

Thanks, I'll try restoring to a previous point and see if that does anything.

Other things to check: Turn off antivirus software (big CPU hog) Disconnect networking Take a look at Windows Task Manager: in the processes window, see if any non-Sonar processes are gobbling CPU or memory.
