Does changing the tempo of a project also change automation?

I have a project containing a finished instrumental piece (only midi/softhsynth instruments), complete with several complex automation sequences all throughout. Now that I'm finished with the instrumental and getting ready to record vocals, I've noticed that my project tempo is a little slow and need to increase it a bit. But I'm worried that the automations will not change with the tempo change?

Yes, automation will follow any tempo changes, certainly while you're still in Midi world.

That behaviour is also adjustable on a per track basis. You have choices of 'absolute' in which case it won't follow the changes or 'musical' in which case it will.

Find that in the track inspector under the automation tab.

Also, I believe the functionality FBB mentions is brand new in X2 (the ability to tie envelopes to real time or musical time). This allows you to adjust tempo after adding envelopes (in the case where you recorded without respect to Sonar's tempo map, add some envelopes, then want to change the tempo in sonar to match the music).

Be aware that there is a bug in busses that prevents you from making this switch once envelopes are added. Therefore, if you want to change a bus, you have to move your envelopes out of the bus, make the switch and then paste your envelopes back into the bus.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
