I share your disdain for iOS apps, and your impatience for ST3. But let's not lose our objectivity...

1. I really doubt the iOS product line has had much impact on ST3 development. They are probably separate teams.

2. It's unfair to criticize a product that was released a decade before 64-bit operating systems became the norm for possible 64-bit compatibilty issues

3. It's bitbridge that's crashing, not SampleTank

4. Most projects in which ST is the main sample library can be run in 32-bit SONAR with no problems.

None of which is to suggest your frustration is unjustified. I'm just trying to keep it in perspective.

1:  I disagree.  I think it's an allocation of resources issue.
2:  Disagree again.  Kontatck, Sonar and virtually everything else was in the same situation.  Even Waves, Propellerhead and UAD is 64 bit now.  They were seen as the last great holdouts.
3:  That just highlights the entire issue - that ST needs a bridge.
4:  That only works if you abandon 64 bit for the sake of ST.  If ST was the main sample library and all of my vst's were 32bit it would be 2001.

Obviously IK will do what they think will be most profitable but this is leaving many loyal customers feeling abandoned.  I've spent a lot of money on IK libraries and I am their lowest priority.

To play devils advocate here, maybe its the income from the iOS stuff that's keeping IK going and will ultimately fund the development of ST3. But one thing is for sure IK see the iOS stuff as a good revenue stream.

The free ampeg SVX. Is this the same thing/package I already purchased?

I think its a free upgrade to what you purchased, enabeling it to run the the latest Amplitube 3. I bought Ampeg SVX and the gear became available in Amplitube 3 through the account at the custom shop. If you dont have Ampeg you would have to purchase the gear.

Yes - but if you had previously purchased Ampeg SVX you can up date it to run in the free version of Amplitube 3 via the custom shop.

If you own Ampeg SVX:


Install both Ampeg SVX and Amplitube Free (64Bit).
You can then use the Ampeg Amps/Cabs/EFX in Amplitube Free (which is a 64Bit plugin).

The update to Ampeg SVX is that it will NOW run in Amplitube FREE ...but it's not FREE...and I don't think
that the software itself gets an update....it's Amplitube FREE that got the update to allow SVX to run within it.

I don't run anything that is 32bit. In X2 everything I use is 64bit, as far as I know... it just isn't worth the possible hassle. Ask FREDDIE... 64bit, it matters!

AmpliTube 3 FREE (With the Custom Shop, Also called the AmpliTube Custom Shop) and AmpliTube 3 (Full) are 100% identical in features just different sets of Gear Models inside of them. Definitely use it over the Ampeg SVX or any of the older versions. We have leaned it out to use far less RAM and processing power, added new features and are continually improving the sound with each release.
