Something to keep in mind...

Most people are only average at being above average.

But don't feel bad - you may be one of the very few who are well above average at being average.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I've been feeling a bit below par lately.

I since found out that's about average for this time of year.

I hate to say it, but...

    How shall I put this?

In my working career I started at the bottom and clawed my way firmly to the middle. Is that average, under, over?

Now I is an ampfixer and I miss average.

    Hi drewfx1,

I'm just a simple country boy... I've heard there's a difference between "average" and "mean" but I'm still trying to figure out what it is.

I'm only average in relation to others.

Mebee that's why if I don't have relations round I generally feel top of the heap.

I'm definitely not average.  I'm near the bell end end of the bell curve.

To a statistician there's definitely a difference, but to the average person they mean the same thing!
