Can Cakewalk at least think of resurrecting Project 5?
Been asked before I know, I like that at least some of Project5 lives on in Sonar so that's great that it lives on in a way.
Still a separate program similar or even better would be most welcome at least to me. Heck you could repackage the old code and release it and I'm sure it would create a marketable demand(even though it didn't make a splash before).
I know by the look's of this sub forum that interest is close to little or none but that is because the software has been discontinued.
Part of success is risk taking.
Just the rambling's of a Die Hard Fan and continual User.
Any comments welcome.

I'd buy into an updated P5...and so would some KVR members.  I'd love to see it borrow a few features from Sonar, esp., the step sequencer and Groove Matrix. With all the attention that Bitwig has been getting by Live users looking for an alternative, I'm thinking that an updated P5 could be a real contender...again.

Yeah I agree if they roll it out again I know the Buzz will be a lot better than the last time. No knock against Sonar, still a great program but I think with all the power some people would go for a Soft Synth doodling program like Project 5 again. I hope this thread gains some life and doesn't whither away like others here have.

i'm not certain of the timeline but wasn't p5 abandoned after roland took over? the track zoom is still smoother than sonar and one can even implement a third party editor from within p5. bring back p5!

I like P5's work flow and ease of creating/manipulating synth tracks.

A lot of the KVR crowd has been having wet dreams over Bitwig Studio. When I saw it, I thought it looked like P5, with X1's media browser and a few plugins with GUIs stolen from Reaktor. P5 could definitely be a contender.

P5 was most elegant and easy to grok. For electronic music, it was (is) a wet dream. I can understand why they dropped it, just wish they hadn't.

Maybe Roland looked at the cakewalk product line and told them to simplify or something similiar. It's a shame.

Well, Tracktion looked dead in the water too but recent posts on KvR by it's original coder suggest that it could be about to make a comeback...which I guess could give a little room for hope. Of course, the likelihood of the original driving force (Jesse Jost?) getting involved in a resurrection of P5 is tiny and I don't think anyone else in the Cakewalk clan really care about it to be interested in bringing it back...

I was working in Studio One this morning with some Macro's I created for Pattern building and it will never be as good as Project 5 but it's new. At some point though I will have to go to my old "Goto" Project 5, be nice if it was new and as improved as Sonar. I can dream can't I?

P5 will never see the light of day again, as far as Cake is concerned. I'd buy back in if it ever did. It was so quick and simple. Not knocking X1, because I love it, but it is like killing a fly with a cannon. I still use P5 at my every chance. It is my scratch pad. If I like what is developing then I will port it over to X1. Cake better think real hard before this Bitwig thing hits the streets, because they will never win back there loyal base after that. I can still be had Cake/Roland, I'm so easy.
