You should have seen this bass player
Dude was in an all back Motown type of band at my dads wedding. Playing a right handed bass lefty. Ok so big deal. But get this . The strings went flipped The high G string was on top where the low string would go and the low B string (it was a 5 string) was where the high G string should go So not only was everything upside down .... But the strings were too!! I've seen lefty play on right handed guitars with the strings flipped..... But in this case ...everything was backward ....I could have picked up the bass and played it right handed normally without any adjustments ..... This blew my mind .... It was so. Natural for him ...dude was in his 50s or 60s ... And he played it like a monster ... Dude can play .... And sing harmonies like a mo fo I was going to talk to him on how and why he played like that but I needed to leave that wedding in a hurry How do you like those apples?

Mostly baked and stewed.... with brown sugar and cinnamon.... Sounded like the mo-fo could play...and sing.

Mooch, the guy I was in a band with all during high school was a geetar player like that. IOW he can simply play any "normal" right handed strung guitar/bass flip over and play it left handed. He is self taught. And, he was the very first person I knew who could pick a new instrument (to him) and play it within weeks and you'd swear he'd been playing it for years. I learned how to "see" guitar chords upside down from him. We played Jethro Tull's Nothing Is Easy and Bouree at a battle of the bands after he had been playing the flute for only two weeks and all our friends had asked "if he had been playing flute for so long, why did he only start using in the group just now". They just assumed he had been playing flute since childhood, he was that good.

It's disappointing to know that he is probably not a millionaire but Brittany Spears is along with other countless rap "artists"

I've got a friend who plays guitar sometimes on stuff I do (and keyboards and drums occasionally, guy's a really good multi-instrumentalist). Anyway, he's left handed, and all his own guitars are strung flipped. But when he's in my studio and we've not planned for him to bring a guitar round, he just plays my right-handed strung guitars upside-down no problem. Blows my mind.

I used to play that way for years. My brother plays right handed and I always used to play his guitars he bought me my own, but he got me a left handed one and I had to learn how to play all over again. It was difficult, I can't imagine switching at will like your friend does.
