Random but not infrequent Digital distortion in X2

I may have mentioned this in an earlier thread but has it continues to happen to me on a regular basis I'll bring it up again.  When working in new projects in X2 producer I'll suddenly get a "breaking up" sort of digital distortion...similar to a "blown speaker" sound on just a few tracks (usually on whatever drum package I'm using...it is not specific to any one package or kit) to which the only solution is to close both the project and X2 and re-open.  It happens often enough to be quite irritating...yet not enough to drive me back to X1 (as yet). Any of you pore souls afflicted with this gawdforsaken malady??

    Yes, Yorolpal, I get it on projects started in X1, not any started in X2 nor earlier versions (I know that because I'm very slow at finishing projects...)

    I re-looked at levels thru the tracks and PCs and even after making adjustments to various levels the occasional digital distortion is present. I'm hoping it doesn't appear when it comes to exporting stereo mix files :-)

    I have had this by importing X1 projects into X2 a couple of times. also the CPU meter has gone crazy on the first core, whereas the same project in X1 was less than half with same souncard buffer settings. Not happened once from a new X2 project. But at the same time, any new projects in X2 definitely give the the ability to use more plugins/synths etc.

    Hey ho hey ho, it's off to beer I go.

    Are you sure the PRoChannel isn't overheating?

    Yep I always make sure the gain is set correctly. Don't know about the guys above but has to be a soundcard/audio engine issue?

    I don't know diddley squat me...

    Yeah I've got this. Figured it was a driver issue (waiting for new drivers). It rarely happens and a restart of X2 normally clears it. Not blaming X2 for this because I noticed it occasionally with other applications emitting sound.

    Firewire/USB driver latency of course can be the issue as well, certainly readjusting on more than one occasion helped me - I rarely get it now.....

    @48/24 & 128 buffers latency is 367 with offset of 38.
