Sonar X2 + Avid Eucon Mc Mix/Transport

Hi,

I have been through a search about that but most of the threads I found were old.

I am using Sonar X2 64bits on Windows 7 with both Mc Mix and Mc Transport.

Here is the list of my issues, I would be glad if anyone can help on any of these:

- I "lose" them after using Sonar. Most of the times only once is enough. Usually I have to uninstall Eucon and re-install again to get them "back"
- My next marker/previous marker buttons on the MC Trasnport don't work. They just don't do anything. I tried to launch the configurator to check that myself. The button are responding, they are set to use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL + SHIFT + PAGEDOWN/PAGEUP shortcuts. I tried these with the keyboards and they work. MC Transport buttons don't.

X2 ONLY problem:
- I click on the Mc Mix select track button, that essentially does a focus on a specific track. But the auto-zoom doesn't work when I do this! Probably because a mouse click on a track is different from what the Mc Mix does when clicking this button. Anyway I NEED this feature to work as it makes the Mc Mix pretty much useless like this.

I also didn't manage to configure these important features:
- open the list of plugins
- select a plugin and load it
- how to display the plugin assigned to a midi track when it's selected with my Mc Mix. I know that if you click the icon on the midi track it displays the plugin window, but I want to do that without the mouse => with the Mc Mix.

I would gladly exchange with anyone having experience with Eucon and Sonar.

Cheers,
Laurent

Thanks for posting, Laurent.  I have subscribed to this thread and will be reading with great interest.  I have been reading everything I can find on the Euphonix Artist Series of controllers (Control, Mix, Transport) as possible replacements for the VS-700C I am currently using.  I want to give Cakewalk/Roland a little more time to get things working better with X2 but if the situation doesn't improve I can't see keeping the VS-700C for just fader, pan and transport control.

I really liked the VS-700C when it first came out with Sonar 8.5.3.  It is a very solidly built unit and the feature integration with the software was outstanding.  It continues to have the potential to be a great piece of gear but the software to reach it's potential has been slipping away starting with X1 and getting worse with X2.  There have been some comments from Cakewalk that they will be improving the integration with X2 but even though that may be the intent business priorities may dictate otherwise.  I'm sure they will make the right business decision but the VS-700C may not be the winner in that decision.  I think we all want Cakewalk to survive and thrive as a company.  If that means they have to walk away from the VS-700C so be it.  I won't be happy but I won't dump Sonar in spite.

Please keep us posted if you get things working with the Euphonix Mix and Transport.  Did you ever try the MC Control?  Very interested to hear from anyone with experience with the Control controller - especially with Sonar X2.  I noticed CJ uses the Euphonix Transport.  Hopefully he will jump in with workarounds for the problems you are seeing.

Well to be honest I am complaining here (this is the place to do so ;) ) but it WORKS!

It doesn't always seem clear in the forums, but I use them everyday with success. It is just frustrating not to use these superb controllers to the full extent of their possibilities.

In term of motorized faders controller of this size and quality I still think it's best. Transport controls work almost perfectly, the faders are beautiful are respond very well to automations in Sonar, and even the screen shows the information of volume, pan, track names, and send perfectly.

Main problems: how to use the Mc Mix for Insert effects/plugins and equalization (but with the equalization inside ProChannel I doubt it's ever gonna work)
