How about X1 in Windows 8 ?

Preparing to upgrade to Win8 64bit - will do clean (have full version).  

I understand the 'official' states that Cakewalk does not support X1 on Win 8, but I read elsewhere it will work...

I have X2 P but have not experienced with it very much yet so I plan to reinstall both versions. 

Any of you have success on Win 8 with X1 ?

    I can't report about X1 on Windows 8 because I have not installed it on my win 8 drive. It runs great on Vista 64 but I have no experience with it on 8.

    I do however have a lot of time using X2 P on Windows 8. And although it is not as stable as X1 EX with the D patch on Vista it is very usable. I expect that the most annoying bugs will be fixed in the upcoming patch. Further, as much as I like X1 and its stability I simply can't bring myself to go back to it because X2 is just that much better.

    Its far more refined and its ease of use has been taken to a higher level. Because you have it I would try it out and see how it works and than you can decide whether to go back to X1 or not.

    I too have taken this leap very recently and whilst I havent been able to fully test Sonar yet as its taking me a million years to reinstall all my soft synths and libraries etc, from the little I have seen its "So Far So GOOD!"

    Win 8 takes a bit of time getting used to, the desktop interface imo is ghastly... This can be easily fixed by downloading something like Pokki which banishes the new touch screen style swipe thing with the traditional desktop environment.

    As far as drivers go, Win 8 rocks.


    Actually scrub that, I just read the thread again and you are on X1.... I'm on X2.

    All I can say is that you are looking for problems! My 2 cents is : if all your softwares work on win 7 why upgrade to 8? Chances are bigger your softwares won't all work under 8. Good luck!

    I have X1 and X2 both on my computer running Windows 8. X1 gives messages to songs recorded in X2 That maybe they wont play right or if you save them again in X1 they will not work in X2. Otherwise both programs work without any problems.
    Maybe after the compatability upgrade they wont work anymore together. We'll see.

    To date I haven't found a program that wont work in Windows 8. I am not sure why this is being proposed by some members. Certainly Sonar will. We know this because I and many others have been running it just fine. Also if anything one may find fewer problems under Windows than with Windows 7.  Its more advanced. Than there are those that seem to propose plugins wont work in windows 8. So far I have not seen this or read anything to suggest that this notion is true. All my plugins that I installed for X2 on Windows 8 run fine. 

    If you are using programs that were released for win 98 you may find they wont work but there is most likely a newer version that will. 

    Generally if it works in Windows 7 it should work in Windows 8. I know that the programs that I used in Vista 64 bit also work in Windows 8 64 bit. At least all the ones I wanted to work. 

    Full disclosure, I haven't tested all windows programs on win 8. I doubt anyone else has either.  

    Really there is no reason not to go for Windows 8 as it is the current OS and is a better OS. 
    When one gets use to it its hard to even want to go back to an older OS. You gain a great deal and loose nothing.

    I have 8.5.3, x1, and x2 installed on the w7-32, w7-64, and w8-64 partitions

    They all work (mostly).

    I suggest installing X2 first, and then installing ONLY the x1 program, NOT any of the included stuff. This way you will have ONLY the latest versions of all and every.
