Piano roll does not open on same measure as track view

When i double click on a MIDI clip or Alt-3 (with Time ruler on say bar 43 in track view) and open Piano roll, the starting measure is at bar 2-3.  So I have to scroll to find my place in the midi track every time i open a clip in Piano roll.

Slightly annoying.  Is there something i'm not clicking correctly or is this a bug?

Yes, I get that.  I could have sworn that in previous versions the PRV opened at the point in the song where I was working.

When you double-click a clip, make sure you do it in the bottom half (or underneath the header) of the clip (where the mouse cursor looks like an I ). That way your double-click will not only open the PRV, but it will also move the Now time so that the PRV opens in the correct location.

I for one HATE the changes to the PRV mode behavior.  Not only did I notice this but also if you edit something in PRV, the now time auto scroll stops working and you have to do a right click in the timeline to get the scroll working again (still opening the PRV with a CNTL 5 command).

Sorry to report that this does not work.

It only works for the first time a clip is opened in the PRV.  If the same clip in TV is double-clicked it opens PRV to measure 2 consistent behavior every time for me.

This is one of the bugs that really bugs me about Sonar X2 and hope it is fixed in the first update.

Hmmm... strange. It's working here for me. As long as I click in the correct place on the clip, the PRV opens to the same spot that I clicked. Not sure what's going on with your setup...

So you are paused/stopped at bar 43.
    Launch the PRV.

To get at bar 43---Hit the space bar in quick succession to start-n-stop the machine--you now at bar 43.

That should only happen during playback. If you edit when playback is stopped, scrolling is unaffected.

    Kevo,

Is that quick space bar manuever documented or did you just happen to stumble upon this technique?

I tried the same (d-clicking below clip select/lower half) and no matter what measure I'm at in the track view it takes me to bar 1.

Problem also occurs when pressing the D key to snap back to a tabbed PRV view.  Until you hit play.  Then D-key will go to Now Time measure in PRV.

Cakewalk, I really hope this work around is not a "feature" and will be fixed soon.  shouldn't have to do this every time.

Ah ha... I see the problem now. What I mentioned earlier works if you double-click on a different clip. When you double-click again on the original clip, the PRV scrolls back to the beginning of the clip. Yeah, looks like a bug.

The workaround Simpleman posted works, but hopefully we'll get a bug fix for this.

Another workaround is to close the PRV after you're done editing the clip. That seems to work too, but we definitely shouldn't have to do that.

When I 2xClick on a MIDI clip... anywhere... I get the PRV at the current time. NICE!

The only times I get the PRV at the -0- time mark is when I open it from the FIle Menu or Alt + 3 shortcut, which you have to do when several tracks are selected. NOT NICE!

Unless there's another way to open several tracks in PRV at the current time, I think there is a bug because X1 doesn't do this.
