Wow, a legend is dead! I used to watch The Sky At Night to help me relax before bedtime, it had the same soothing effect on me as the shipping report.

    A boyhood hero of mine.

Like many others of a certain age, my interest in astronomy and space exploration was nurtured by Patrick.

I really hope they continue to make The Sky At Night though, I would imagine the production team have had co-presenter Chris Lintott in mind as Patrick's successor for a while.

    Sad loss indeed.

Another of the regular and much loved faces of our childhood vanishes.

RIP. One of those characters that I've been used to seeing all my life and never seemed to look any older than how I remember him as a young boy. I'll miss him and his incredible enthusiasm for astronomy.
