Out of nowhere-X2 Prod will not launch???? Solved-HOW STUPID I AM

SOLVED:
Samples are on EXT hard drive as is Sonar Content folder-same on my desktop. As I was typing the edit with specs I remembered.

But I need to think this thru. If I use only Audio only files I guess I wouldn;'t need the external if I put the contents folder where it is installed by default????

Any suggestions?

Try uninstalling then reinstalling your audio driver. Had X1 do the same thing after running fine for a year and that fixed it for me. By the way it started after a windows update. Don't know if there's any significance.

    Pathfinder indeed!

How often have I made a silly error. Thank goodness I am the only one that knows!

If people knew I might not be allowed out.

Really- I know-How dumb. John, I do not remember why I removed the contents folder off the C drive and onto , well on my Desktop Daw to a the sample drive and on my laptop to the ext drive.

Maybe I should move it back. The Contents folder still exist on the C drive but I use the others. I think I did it because of the Reverb impulses and Sesssion Drummer 3 files-for better performance.

What is your take on this? Am I really saving anything?

I have a ton of room on the C drive of bot the PC and the laptop.
    Thanks
    Frank

I use a total of 6 HDs so I am not the one to advise about this. I try to put my sample libraries for sample players on a disk that I can access which ever system disk I am using (Vista or Windows 8). For example I have all my Kontakt and Battery 3 and most of the others on my D: drive. I have my projects on Drive H:. This way I am not accessing my C: drive. I even put a folder on my D: drive for all the demo songs for all the versions of Sonar. When I clean installed Win 8 on a fresh HD I didn't have to install any samples because they were on another drive. So it worked out nicely for me.

For small sample libraries I have installed them on the C: drive. I may reconsider that practice.

If this is a USB drive you use as your external drive I wonder if its throughput is as fast as you may need. If its eSATA than by all means use it. It would perform as well as an internal drive.

My best advice is do what is working for you. You can see I'm in favor of using as many drives as you can. On a laptop I think its even more important to use extra drives.

    I hope this is helpful.

I also use multiple drives. My desktop has 3 internals and 1 ext eSata.

But the laptop is limited. For now anyway-I do plan (already bought the carriage) on putting a SSD where the piece of garbage CD|DVD drive is. I have plenty of exteranl DVD players and writers-one is USB 3.0 also. It has a 750GB HD partitioned in 1/2-os and data. The external HD is USB 3.0 so it's pretty quick and I see no issues if I use samples on the laptop.

I was in a hurry with the laptop and negelected 2 things. The ram max and ESata-although not too many laptops I have seen have ext eSata. But USB 3.0 is very fast, not as fast. Max ram is 8GB. I know that's OK for now. I got a good deal on the laptop new. new I7 3rd gen-Nvidea 2GB video card\HD 1080 display, HDMI out, and I can switch to the HD Intel which also works with Sonarx2.

So it's got the power (after I deleted all the bloat crap) Even connected to my wireless network at home it runs sampled projects very well. I will disable it out of course.

Bet you didn't expect all this babble

    Thanks as always John

I wouldn't call it babble. I was fascinated.
