First for me-continuous crashes?
I am one of those "well it's always stable for me" folks around here and it's true-Since CWPA6. Upgraded every Sonar except one year, I think 2 to 3. Anyhow, I now can hardly get thru a tune-These are mainly softsynths with guiatr audio and vocal audio, Mostly I am bouncing to tracks. Trying to get down to Audio only, which I have been doing for years. I mean I cannot go 15 minutes. Sometimes 3 minutes. I get the mini dup error dialog and I have sent three to CW-last night. I was doing the bounces to put them on my laptop for a company gig. Very annoying. I have not changed anything , My specs are below-plenty of power, RAm, etc. I am hoping I hear from CW. I am going to try again tonoght. But it's not just when I am bouncing. Tried to add a plug to an fx bin in a bus-wham. It's the white screen type Has stopped working or must close, etc. also get the MS send a report error. I thought I turned that off. I have not added or changed anything-except-I am using a wireless network for my laptop. but the daw is hard wired of course. Too vague I know-I will take better notice

I would shut down the wireless and see if that helps. Look also at processes in the task manager too see if something is there that shouldn't be. Check your start up tab and see whats loading on start of Win 7.

Hey Guys I need the router for here. The wireless is the laptop-it's not on. You know, in all the years I have been coming here-more than the date shows I have never posted this much about issues or help-not in 3 nights :-) Well actually I thgink the laptop was on -I have a few projects that just wouldn't stop crashing last nite. I'll try with the laptop off, although I don't see how that could be it-although there is a lot of sharing between the 2. Be back in a while Thanks Star and John

We have been receiving a high volume of emails concerning the internet browser extension titled “Widgi Toolbar Platform”, some emails are in relation to Text Enhance adware. Widgi Toolbar Platform is known malware categorized as both adware and spyware which can create Windows registry entries causing Widgi Toolbar to re-install upon simple removal procedures. You will want to remove and disable Widgi Toolbar Platform from your internet browser’s extensions as well as from your operating system’s registry ..... http://botcrawl.com/spywa...idgi-toolbar-platform/

Well, it's not widggi, it's gone. Not wireless-laptop is off. Crashes every 3 or 4 munutes. I will run a full system scan but I am sorry to say this will force me to cancel the company gig. I cannot edit the projects to get them on the laptop. And the laptop does not have many of the vst's I use-like SSDrums Platinum,\EZ drummer\dim pro, T racks compressor, etc, etc, etc. I will run a full system scan Bit defender 2013 ( I have used Bit defender with Sonar for over 8 years now. It's also been installed for quite a while. I sent 2 more dumps to CW. Gotta sleep now. I'll just let the scan run deep and on all 3 HDs. Thanks guys edit: I also will revert back to Nvidea drivers I had-updated them 3 weeks ago-but this just started 32 days ago. I did however update a program I have had for a while and it has a component maade by Spigot(spelling) which is the same copany that makes the widgi toolbar-I will uninstall that also tomorrow. I hope that's not it bwecause it's one of my favorite programs and it's also installed on the laptop and no issues at all with X2 on laptop. But I'll try it. Alcohol 120%, great app Been using it forever

Have you tried defragging your drive? I had a problem like yours with X1, and it went away with a defrag.

Stratman... As soon as you mentioned adding a plugin and "white screen" I am *assuming* you are having this issue with X2? If so, I posted a message the other day about X2 - my issue was identical - and the root cause was the X2 setup 1 file was bad (yet X2 installed). If you are having this issue with X2, check out that post ( http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2731387 ). I put the hash checks of the setup files in there. I went through a lot of re-installs and troubleshooting, and was not the plugin files, but the main program doing it. So far, I have not had the issue recur, but not fully stress tested it yet. Well, I have done as all have suggested-some I already had doe. First thing I do is turn off all the garbage. AS Metil mentioned, I too had to rename one of the downloads-first time ever I didn't get the dvd's also. Can I do that-pay for the DVD's-I wonder. Anyhow., 1/2 of the 6 USB root hubs had the power mgmt checked-I unchecked all. Ram Malwarebytes-mostly cookies were removed. Ran a full deep system scan with Bit defender. I guess it's either a M$ update or the install gone bad. I have no problem reformatting etc or reinstalling an image-it's the plug authorization that kills me=what a friggin' hassle that is. At least Izotope stuff I can just export the reg entries and then add them back -no proble,. OK-I'll see how tonight goes Thanks to all of you folks. I will post back.

OK-Much to Mikeys dismay-it's not the aXeFX-Good one though, but you had to be there Anyway, I went thru all services found a few windows media service crap and a few others I missed. Also, realized that since this was an image re-install-many, 99% have Kontakt 4 in them somewhere so I always get the message about finding subsitute, which is K4 with the new class ID. So I removed K4 from wuite a few projets and resaved them with Kontakt 5. Also found a few Kore player tracks and it's not even installed. So after all of this I have gone quiate a while now with no incidents. Especially 2 of the projects from last night that I could not get thru at all, are now done. Of course, with all the crap I did I don't know which or combinations of which caused the issues but if they stay gone that's great. Before I even begin to edit I am going to remove K4 and rplace it with K5 in every project K4 exists in. Then I will uninstall Kontakt 4. Don't need it. I will pick one of the 2 major projects with issues and later on-(next week) slowly 1 ata time add back a few things I like-like Alcohol 120%- the scsi virtual driver is what I disabled. I don't need the stuff I turned off and BTW the network is fine. I dropped the 2 edited projects into a a share folder I have to get thing to the laptop and all was fine and the laptop is still wireless. It won't be on when I play of course Thanks again and I hope this is it for now for me. Couldn't have done it without all the help.

I have the paperwork to return the Scarlett if I decide to. I have until Jan 31st. Amazon is good as far as returns. I buy alot, especially xmas, etc so they love me-I spend alot an have the Prime delivery service. Not saying I will, just thinking about it because I can defintely hear the difference between that and the Layla3G. Honestly, I really would like more outputs. Looking at 2 others-Roalnd Octacapture whatever 10X10 and the MOTU Hybrid 8 outs. I have read that the drivers don't like windows but CJ seems to never have problems and I am pretty sure that's all he has. Different modls but still MOTU. Either one has the outs I want and the MOTU is $100 less. Anyway-Cool :-)

Well, gig went very well for first one in, over 10 years easy. All the help here is what made it work. But now-I have the Scarlett 8i6 packed up and ready to go back. Been looking at Roland octaCapture (lots of bad reviews though) and the MOTU -the hybrid with 10 ins and outs. But read some posts saying the windows dives are not so great/ I am concerned aboyt i\o, and converters. The converters are what I did not like about the scarlett and the output limitations. I do not care about preamps. Any suggestions. Jim R suggested the babyface but not enough outs for me-Unless ou buy all the extras Thanks

StarTekh stratman: glad the gig went well !! Thanks-yours and others helped get there for sure. As you cab see I am still looking for a better interface solution. I guess I really need to do my hoimework on converters. Jim Rosenberry is a really knowledgable guy and suggest the babyface. But If I spend that much, I want the i\o I need without spending a ton mre to get them. The Babyface does not have enough for me. The octacapture doea but reviews aren't that friendly and the motu MK3 looks great but supposedly it's much more Mac friendly. The search goes on.
