Keyboard Triggering SessionDrummer Sounds on ALL Tracks

For some reason, on new projects I create on X1 which have SessionDrummer, when I select ANY MIDI instrument track, and then play my MIDI keyboard, the notes I hear are SessionDrummer drum sounds merged with the correct instrument sound (e.g. SI Bass).  I compared my input, output, MIDI channel and other settings to my other projects which do not have this problem and the settings appear to be the same.  I restarted X1 and tried both 32 bit and 64 bit versions, but the problem persists.  Why is my MIDI controller triggering Session Drummer drum sounds no matter what track I select (even audio tracks)?   How can I correct this?   Thanks.

Do you happen to have the Echo Input On button on for the drum track?  the MIDI input for that track is likely set to omni (none), and if the Echo is on it will dutifully process that sound in the drum synth and you will hear drums combined with whatever else you are playing.

You could also set the MIDI Input Channel to 10, which is standard for drums, and that way, unless you were transmitting on channel 10, nothing would be sent to the drum synth to process - using both of the above would work too.

Thanks robert_e_bone!  I had the echo input button on without realizing it.  I have always ignored that button and did not notice that I had accidentally activated it.   Thanks again!

    Glad it was that easy.

The default behavior for X2 is to automatically enable/disable the echo on button as appropriate  - that is when you have one midi track in focus it will turn on the echo on button, then when you bring a different midi track into focus it will turn off the echo button for the track you WERE on, and then turn echo on for the new MIDI track that is now in focus.

I always have to be careful with that, as I often have more than one echo button on if want to hear a layered sound for example, and I also have to be sure to disarm tracks after recording so that I am not accidentally capturing events I don't mean to.

Anyways, glad you have it all working the way you want now, and you can go back to trying to play the notes correctly :)
