Not getting any output with Startech 1394a

My PC has an onboard VIA 1394a firewire card that works fine no problems. I installed a Startech 1394a firewire PCIe card and disabled the VIA. (I'm doing this just to see if it would make any difference to my Saffire 24 pro interface) I know if it an't broke don't fix it. The only problem I'm having is I don't get output from the Saffire. My mixcontrol is set the same for both 1394a cards. I can even record into Sonar no problem but can only hear what I'm recording if I set the input channel in the mixcontrol to the input I'm recording in from. Anyway I was wondering if anyone has had an issue like this with firewire cards.

Thanks.

Sorry can't answer you question, however VIA is one of the recommended firewire buses Focusrite supports (works fine for me via onboard motherboard) so I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve (if it ain't broke as you say).

If you are using Mix Control 3 or 3.1 beta make sure you are NOT using the legacy firewire driver. Earlier versions of mix control (i.e. 2.4) require the legacy driver.

    Cheers...

Thanks Alex, I'm just testing another firewire card. I know the via is one of the recommended firewire cards and it works just fine. I am using mixcontrol 3.0 without legacy. I'm just wondering now why with this Startech card theres no output through the mixcontrol.
