No Dreamstation in X2?
I installed Sonar X1 on WinXP and started working it it. Soon after, I got an upgrade to X2 that I installed on Win7. When I loaded a file I edited on X1, X2 tells me that the DreamStation DXi2 is missing. Is it normal that the DreamStation soft synth is not in X2? Note: I still have WinXP but I cannot run at the same time as Win7.

Search the forums if you can. I've found that some of the old Cakewalk synths don't behave well under X2. I've dumped just about all the old 32 bit stuff. I would move away from using the legacy products as I don't see Cakewalk dusting them off for a 64 bit rewrite under WIn 8. It's time to move on.

Dream Station is a 32-bit DXI module, and cannot run in the x64 version of X2. It IS an included instrument - here is the Cakewalk link for the included synths: http://cakewalk.com/products/SONAR/X2-Producer/ The Dream Station synth is not included by default in the installation, so unless you deliberately checked its inclusion in the install, it would not have gotten installed. You can go back and install it - if you did not yet install a 32-bit version of X2 for your Windows 7 machine, just go back and install Sonar X2 again, but this time, pick the 32-bit version, AND make sure you select Dream Station this time - at the end of the install you will have a 32-bit X2 that will also have Dream Station installed. If you DID already install the 32-bit X2 and just did not install Dream Station, just go back in and do another 32-bit X2 install, skipping the program files and just installing Dream Station - and any other 32-bit components, and you will be fine. So, I hope that helps, Bob Bone

Forgot to mention - on that link I posted a moment ago, once you get to that page, scroll down and click the View More on the right side for the instruments, and you will see the full list of available synths, Dream Station among them. Bob Bone

The mystery of it all keeps life fresh, Phil. I dunno either why things are how they are - but at least the OP can get this particular project up and running with Dream Station, so there is hope after all. :) Bob Bone

There's nothing that says so, but I am guessing they must be 64-bit versions, if 32-bit won't work.

Ho! I thought it was like any executable (32-bit can work on 64-bit OS) but apparently it seems this does not apply to soft synth. Then, is there any alternative to DreamStation in the 64-bit version? Or will I have to buy some equivalent product for the 64-bit version?

Pentagon fails to load for me when I start X2 as the default user (me), however when I run X2 as administrator it loads fine. (win8, x2 64, yeah I need to fix my footer)

(win8, x2 64, yeah I need to fix my footer) Thanks for this, I can confirm that Pentagon and other 32bit Dxi will load if X2 is run as administrator in 64 bit. CW support has always maintained this is not possible. I can only assume this is a new in X2 as certainly would not work in X1 64 bit. Now going back to install Dreamstation and see if that will work if X2 is run as administrator.

Cannot get Dreamstation to install even though selected in X2 custom install. Happy to have Pentagon working though,

Happy to have Pentagon working though, Just like with VSTs, you cannot simply load a 32bit plugin in a 64 bit executable environment. The installer indicates Dreamstation is a 32bit plugin, so I never opted to install it. Made me kinda sad though coz it's a great synth. :) Try using jm24's suggestion: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2733010 Use a DXI to VST wrapper and then Jbridge.

If you get an error for Pentagon 1 64 bit X2 upon loading it you may need to reinstall it. It should work. You should run the install as an administrator too. You don't need to reinstall anything else to do this.

Pentagon in 64 bit loads and plays for a while. However after browsing through the patches it loses audio. Can still change patches etc but no audio. Given up on dreamstation. I don't want to have both 64 and 32 bit installations.
