Feeling wierd.

You know those two little kitchen cabinets above your refrigerator that you can't reach?

Well, I slid out the fridge to paint behind it this weekend and went to cut in the ceiling above the fridge.

Reached down to grab my paint can, stepped up on my step stool and stood up real fast to catch my balance, and rammed the left side of my skull smack dab on the corner of the cabinet.

I got this dent in the side of my head now and it hurts like a mother ****er. Been dizzy and disoriented ever since.

Funny, I always pictured myself going out sitting in a McDonald's parking lot in my car with a half eaten burger dropped down the front of my shirt and a large diet pepsi spilled in my lap.

It has you spelling weird too.....and some of your letters apprear as stars...no worry though 'bout that as I know what they are and kinda think most anybody would know. Seems kind of silly that they are like stars but it could be worse I guess- they could be like ugly squiggles with fake firework type stuff...anyway, don't go to McDonalds today.

You might have a concussion, dude. You should probably see a doctor about that.

Probably should go to the doctor. It's just, every time I go, I start feeling better while I'm sitting there in the waiting room, then I feel stupid for going.

@Spacey: I haven't been to McD's in quite some time. I haven't left the house except to make a quick run to Lowe's for supplies in 3 weeks.

Gotta scoot ... if I suddenly disappear from the forum, you know why. Heh.

Yeah... bub, dude, fella, guy, broheim... don't mess with the noodly stuff. Get wifey to drive you to wherever you can get checked out. If you hit a corner it could also be some swelling inside the skull... and that ain't good.

    Take care.

Having played sports for years I can definitely tell you that the one to decide if you had a slight concussion or not is NOT you.  You see it all the time, someone gets their bell rung and thinks they're fine.  Plus, there can be effects that don't show up for a while.  Always better to get checked.

And now, one of my all time favorite commercials about this subject!  The way his expression changes cracks me up everytime I see it.  See it yourself HERE!

Bub, I sure hope you feel better. But do be careful and keep an eye on yourself. A friend of mine went through the same thing and ended up in the hospital. Here is her story...she has the dent too...which is what made me share this with you. Just watch yourself for anything getting more intense to where you know something ain't right.

I was hit in the head @ work by a dumpster on Monday. Leaving an actual dent in my head. I don't remember walking back into the building. I was taken to the ER (double vision, nausea & slurring words). 48 hrs of critical "no brain stimulation". After re-evaluation symptoms didn't change (started new head & nausea meds). I don't remember much of the past week. Now getting pressure behind my right eye causing it to droop & headaches. It's an ordeal to say the least.

Again, I hope you feel better and it was just a tough shot and nothing more.

When I was 6 I chased a cricket ball straight into a brick wall and smashed my head open. I can still relive the moment inglorious technicolor. I still have a large dent in my head. I think I was a strange kid from then on - who knows what got unwired/rewired in my brain. Another kid I know got punched in the back of the head during a brawl and lost 75% of his sense of smell.

Yepper, sorry to disappoint ya'll, but I'm still here. Doh.

Feeling a lot better today. Still dizzy, but I wonder if that's just from the smell of the new paint in here? Back to painting today, I think I'll wear a hard hat this time.

Glad you made out ok. I walked into a steel i beam at a dept. store one time. I'm not proud of that but It must have looked funny. It hurt a little too. Dents in the head scare me.

Bub, some years back I got into a scrape with a big, bad German dude...I include
"German" because he'd want that lol...he had a most beautiful sister as I vividly recall...anyway, it was a very bad round for longer than I really care to remember and
there was not a winner. I wound up with a concusion and couldn't  stand for three
days. I'd stand but was still aware enough to sit back down.
I can tell you- I'd rather ram me head into cabinets than deal with him again....I imagine
she is still most beautiful too. :)

I'm pretty sure things would have been worse if it wasn't a known fact that his mom
loved it when I played my guitar for her.

That is one fine reason to wear a hat of any kind when you are working.

In my business I often find myself in attics and other places where I often don't notice there is a rafter or support beam.... wooden or metal... right about head level as I'm walking down the walkway in the dark with my flashlight shining on the floor so I can see where I'm stepping.

    BANG...

slam right into it with my face or forehead...and sometimes I do kinda stand up right under them too.  Hurts  quite a bit...... but a hat of any kind will cushion the impact and will keep you from gashing your scalp wide open.

The interesting thing is.... once you slam into the object.... you tend to remember it's there.... sometimes... definitely after the second such impact, it becomes so much easier to remember it's location.

Those Germanic women are some of the most beautiful on the planet, but those huge hands have got to go! Makes ya feel inferior if ya know what I mean. (My God, I think I took a more severe blow to the head than I care to recollect.)

Did you go to the doctor yet, Bub?

@spacey... While reading that story I thought about the scrap on Deadwood between "The Colonel" and Al's sidekick.

Man was that ever a good show. Wish they had made more.

I've been in a few tussles when I was younger but never really had the stomach for it. Don't think I could fight my way out of a wet paper bag these days.
