Repeating or filling midi notes

  Hello. My name is Dontae. I am new here. I am using Sonar 7 Producer (don't laugh) and was wondering is there a feature or trick I could use to automatically repeat pressed and held keys at like a 16th, 32th, 64th of a measure? I know it can be accomplished with an external controller but I was hoping there is a way to do it with my existing midi keyboard controller or may using the computer keyboard. I know it can be done in PRV by clicking the notes in one by one. I would prefer not to use that method. lol. Any suggestion would help. Thanks. :-)

I don't know if you're comfortable with staff notation (I know many never use it) but, if you are, there's a feature called Step Record in Staff View which may help.  I haven't used Staff View for a while myself but when I do Step Record speeds things up a lot.

Step Record opens in its own pane in Staff View.  In there you can select a note duration (which can be toggled between different values quickly using the number pad on your QWERTY kbd) then repeatedly tap in any note of that (or other) duration you want on your MIDI keyboard. 

E.g if I select '16th' as the note duration then tap away at G3 on the MIDI kbd I'll get a row of G3 16ths appearing in the measure.   

Not sure if it's what you're after but maybe worth a try.

Use the Brush tool*, select the duration** and snap-to resolution you want and just drag the brush across the PRV in the measure you want it. It's faster than clicking in each note.
 
*If S7P has the brush tool (I'm pretty sure it does).
**Up to 32nd note.

  Yeah... I'm thinking I may have to purchase a drum pad with this feature built in. I thoroughly dislike step editing. Takes me out of my groove mostly. Thanks anyway fellas. :-)
