Johnny Got Run Over by a Mule Deer
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12062445 This is for my son in law Jason who had his spleen removed this morning. This is his favorite Xmas song, he's from Alaska what can I say. I did it with the soul purpose of cheering him up when he gets around to his facebook page while recovering. But I thought I'd annoy you folks too.. I'm sorry I don't know the name of the original band, I'm sure they won't mind. I changed the words just because. I used a download midi file and re did some of the parts a bit, added the piano on chorus. I kept the cheezy banjo and fiddle because the song needed cheeze. Used Session Drummer and TTS-1 added real ( Hondo II) bass and 2 Guitar parts, plugged directly into the interface no efxs on nothing here. This song is to be played from mostly laptop speakers so,,, anyhow Merry Christmas formites and hope you have a good one. PS on listening I should have said "And he smoked his Medication" on the 1st verse

Thanks everyone,, I just had to go and change that lyric but of course that led to a few more tweaks. So I added harmony ( real squeaky falsetto) and a jingle bell on the chorus. I also cranked the Accordion on intro. This ones headed for the big time ... ha ha I might even fix the guitar boner, see if you can spot it!

Wow just looked up the history of this song and it's a one hit wonder for sure. http://en.wikipedia.org/w...Run_Over_by_a_Reindeer The song was originally self-released in the San Francisco area by the Shropshires in 1979 on their own record label ("Elmo 'n' Patsy"), with the B-side called "Christmas" You think Wikipedia will add Released in Dec 2012 by Johnny Vere with a change in lyrics. ?? That would be cool.

Cool tune.... Short story about that song.... I was working at a factory many years ago and this song came on the radio. A guy working in the maint shop knew I was a musician and a song writer and decided to try to demean me stating that the songs I wrote probably sounded like "that song"...... I smiled and said, yeah, I wish I had written that song...I would be rich...... I'd be driving a Mercedes and not working here with you. He shut up and never tried to insult me again. What an arse.

If this were youtube, I would be tempted to post a video response (was thinking Queens of The Stone Age's: No One Knows). Lots of fun. Have a wonderful holiday .

Good story Herb, I wonder if those folks actually got rich, Sometimes if you don't have the right record deal you get very little even though the song is played for eternity. I'm not so sure any one hit wonder artists ever retired on the one royalty check, it would be nice as then there's still hope for all of us! Foxwolfen; So funny you mentioned uTube. Today I was going to start and figure that out. I posted the link on mine and Jason's Facebook pages. Soundclick and sound cloud both automatically create a cool icon which seems appealing enough. But so far no action as I think facebook community is 100% into uTubes and that's it. So if you want to share your work, it is going to have to be in that format. SO I was thinking of just creating a cheezy cartoon to go with the song. Any recommendations for a simple cartoon editor that you can drop a MP3 file into? I know Sonar does Quicktime which my Camera outputs so I guess I could do a Claymation?

First Grand ma and now Johnny. When will this madness end? I hope Jason starts feeling better soon. Tell him to watch out for that man in the sleigh who does not watch were he is going.

Jason came through real good, Doc said he lost very little blood and might send him home on Sunday. I don't know if he brought headphones for his iPad. So don't know if he listened yet. Hasn't stopped snowing for over a day, The winch packed it in on my snowplow arrgh. Off to Canadian Tire to spend more money I don;t own.

Thanks to all for your positive feedback. And thanks for your support for Jason. He is a fellow musician too. A dedicated Dead Head and Allman Bros fan. He did get to hear it but he said the Morphine is affecting his better judgement and he was sad about Johnny's untimely death. He didn't think it was right to send the gifts back however, he's all for opening them!

There is a free "Learning" version of Toon Boom's "Animate Pro", that lets you use most of the features and can output the result, but with a "Created with" watermark. I am looking for free and open source versions myself, but so far, you can do it easier with PhotoShop (Here is a quick example of my recent logo animation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrmeaK0NMKY (made with Photoshop and AVID). Here is the link to the Software: http://www.toonboom.com/p...s/animatepro/trial.php . I would like to get the full version, but that is a g-note I do not have to spend right now.

Hey thanks Foxwolfen,, thank you for the link that's exactly what I want, I'm downloading the trial of the studio version as it looks more in my domain and price point. Looks like you can upgrade too if you get into it. I was unaware that you could animate photoshop, I have used it for 12 years and never got past the crop. and clone stamp tool

In photoshop just click Window, and Animation and start animating(why "window" I dunno, its a widget or a plugin, not a window, but I digress).
