The Meat Gods have smiled down upon me....

Thru a quirk in nature, I have recieved a very generous supply of Black Angus beef. My brother raised and had 4 cows butchered, my mom bought 1/4 of one of the cows to divy up between the family. I ended up with 10 - 1 pound packages of ground beef, some beef tenderloin, some swiss steak, a few sirloin steaks, a huge roast, soup bones, and some hamburger patties. My freezer is full and I'm set for the winter !!!! This is a giant boost to my food storage program !!!!

Gee, X2a and Black Angus beef...what a great day !!

    Sounds perfect!
For last Easter I bought half a lamb from a local breeder. I did not know lamb can be so tender and delicious. I've always liked lamb, but the frozen New Zealander is what I usually buy, 'cause it's half the price compared to finnish lamb (it sure pays to freight it from the other side of the world!). Well, New Zealand deer, and even ostrich, is cheaper than finnish reindeer :o/.

The only thing that keeps the NZ economy afloat is the ability to grow grass for animals to eat. Because of this we are not required to stuff our animals-to-be-slaughtered with expensive grain as they do in Europe and America.

Consequently we can ship our product to the other side of the world and place it on the shelf at a lower price than the locals. And WITHOUT ANY government subsidies. It's actually a kind of miracle. Our government has found it hard to close free-trade deals with America and Russia however because their farmers are scared of us!

Also, the energy used to grow and send the european/american grain to the EU/USA animals means that those regions "food miles" statistics are much worse than New Zealand's.

And our largest dairy producer has just announced free milk for every school child in the country, every day, beginning from next year.
