using kontakt based vsti in x2?
probably a silly question but, if I use a kontakt based vst that has 44.1k samples will it playback correctly in a project that uses 48k as its sample rate? I just want to verify before I purchase. thanks.

If I understand your question, you will have no problems. Whatever the original sampling rate that was used to create Kontakt sounds has no bearing on playing them back within Sonar. Bob Bone

Samplers and sample players normally have their own audio engine that takes care of that issue. Kontakt 4 or 5 will work fine in X2. So will just about any other sampler. Keep in mind that Session Drummer 3 is also a sample player with who knows what the audio files were recorded as. As is true with any samples. Sound fonts are 16 bit for example. It really shouldn't be a concern.

A fine question there, original poster. If you approach the rest of Sonar with that level of thinking through things, you will really learn the product well, although you might go stark raving mad in the process. Good luck with all - you will really like the Kontakt sound quality. You get a lot for the investment, and even though there are better sounding brass sections from a couple of other vendors, for example, the overall quality of the Kontakt sounds is really good, and you get a ton of good usable sounds with it. Native Instruments used to let you download a Kontakt Player for free, and it came with some small number of sounds. If that is still out there, download and try it out, and you will get a sense of Kontakt's sounds, and will also see it working for you in X2. Bob Bone

i just asked because I do not usually work with samplers. I know the question seems silly but having reciently experianced a problem with a rewire slave that did not like my sample rate I thought I would ask first. they still have a free kontakt player available.
