I just did the whole process of asking for the download, and it showed up in my inbox in about 2 minutes.

Try a different browser. I get all sorts of different experiences with different browsers. I use FFV5 but need IE Tab  for the Cakewalk store.

I do not believe you have to have a serial number to ask a presale question. You could also try posting in the E-Store forum above it is monitored by customer support. Keep in mind it is the weekend and it might take until Monday for a response.

I used Chrome, and it generated an email that I got right away.  I would also imagine that IE would work.

Can you give another browser a try?  If it doesn't work, just uninstall, and if it does work, then you have the weekend to play with the demo, rather than waiting for Monday's AFTERNOON opening of tech support at Cakewalk.

Since I already have a Cakewalk account, connected to my email, I thought I should run my test again using a different email that is NOT connected already to a Cakewalk account.

I just again requested a demo, and sure enough, the email went to the different email address I plugged in.

I went to this link to fill out the request for the demo:

    http://cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Web-Trial.aspx

The above page IS running Active Server Page scripts, so maybe it doesn't like whatever browser you are using.

Maybe it's some nuttiness between Cakewalk and your email account.

I use my Yahoo email for this and it works fine.  Maybe you could try setting up a Yahoo email account and trying again?

I know that's a pain, but maybe it will at least get you the demo before Xmas.
