Upgrading X2 to X2A on XP

Oddly enough...I actually read the README...and found (right up at the top) where it says...

" Installation is not possible on unsupported operating systems, such as Windows 98 & XP."

Hmm..."not possible" sounds a bit more harsh than the typical "unsupported".  My question becomes, how "not possible" is this?  Will the installer just barf if I try to start it on my XP system?  If so...would it be possible to just copy the changed files on my Win7 system to my XP laptop and be done?

Has anyone tried this yet?

Uh...never mind.  I didn't see this thread first...

It would appear that the inclusion of the new Visual C++ Redistributable has rendered this truly not backward compatible.

A whole new MS library is also included. This is the reason CW is staying away from XP. From what I have gathered the library is not compatible with XP. Its meant for Win 7 and Win 8. Even Vista is not supported though it seems Vista can run X2a. Remember that Vista Win 7 and win 8 are much alike. XP was really a very advanced win 98.
