Post X2a Results: CWBRN-11398, CWBRN-11014, CWBRN-11154

Hi all, I thought it worth breaking out some discussion on individual aspects of the X2a release as there is a lot we have been hoping for and due to the scope of the fixes, I'm keen to look at them one at a time.

For me, the Channel Strip Control (CSC) loss of integration was a deal breaker and here are my results so far one by one with respect to the release 'fixed list'...more as each point on that list is better clarified or resolved 100% either way.

All results are based on the Cake Mixing Tutorial-Complete.

Please note also that due to the lack of Channel Strip integration since X1, I have not been using it so you may find differing results based on your use of it to date. The sharing of knowledge here is hoped to be beneficial to all.

ITEM ONE
  • Can't navigate through ProChannel modules with EQ-button on VS-700C (CWBRN-11398, CWBRN-11014, CWBRN-11154) -FIXED with all inserted (existing for sample project and added) modules being selectable. Notes:
    - Inserting Breverb as a test showed some varied results. For example when selecting it via the EQ button, the 'Power' On/Off is available via the Send 1 Gain knob but it does not function.

    - Power can be toggled with the mouse which does not affect surface operation of this function except that the CSC will update.
    - I was unable to learn it with ACT which was interesting.
    - It would be VERY helpful if the names of the controls could be edited in the surface properties as the 700C display does not make it simple due to text length restrictions.
    - Surface config files were all relearned from a new start up of Sonar as detailed by Cake in another thread in order to eliminate any existing config issues.

    Cheers for now.

      Hi Mully,

I'm sure you've seen these problem reports regarding X2a: http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2742278

But after several more hours working with X2a, there is (so far) nothing to add to the list

Let's all work together to have X2a issues documented here and with Cake's problem reporter so that we know what we're in for and that Cake gets a chance to fix the remaining issues for X2b.

Sounds good Bertl. I'm actually hopeful as just having the eq functional now from the surface has made a massive difference here. The fact that Cake could get that resolved albeit MONTHS after the fact, give me some optimism. I've got a LOAD of mixing to do so am looking forward to putting this update through it's paces. Cheers!
