Snap To Grid & Looping Issue

I recently installed the new update, now the snap values are off when using Aim Assist. The clips still appear to be snapping to the grid, but the values are rarely on beat. To be sure, I have it set to "snap to" quarter notes. To give an example, if I want to drag a clip to bar 16, the value says something like 15.119, or 16.024 ... completely random. But when I play back, it all appears to be in time, snapped to bar 16. Weird, no?

Also, when I loop a section (e.g. 16 bars), it plays fine the first time, maybe even the second time around, but then with each subsequent loop, tracks start drifting. This is especially apparent when a 4/4 kick track starts drifting off and everything sounds out of time. This was always an issue for me in Sonar, but it's seems to be getting worse. Ideas?

Thanks :)

Sounds like you may have "Snap to nearest audio zero crossing" checked. Change it in Prefs--->Customization--->Snap to Grid

Thanks for the response, but this is true for both audio and midi clips. It could be the only clip in the track.

Do you mean a MIDI clip will snap off the grid even if it's the only clip in the project?

Let's just say I have a project with one track and one clip in the track. I drag the clip to a bar and it appears to snap into place, but the value (next to the Aim Assist line) will show these weird numbers. From a functional standpoint, it doesn't appear to have an impact, it's just a bit annoying when you can't trust the Aim Assist values anymore.

This could be midi or audio ... any type of clip.

DO you have a snap offset set? (Clip properties), Snap to landmarks checked? I don't see strange behaviour here, not that that helps you other than its not normal.

Just another thought. Are you clicking in the back half of the clip? Aim assist will align with the end of the clip in that case.

I haven't changed any preferences since installing the update, but I will check when I get home. Until I can verify that setting, any ideas abut the looping problems. I seem to remember several people having issues with that.
