Has anybody successfully added a wave editor to X2?

Hi everyone,

As the title says, has anyone done this?

I'm trying to add Adobe Audition as my wave editor in the utilities menu but so far have had no luck.

I followed the instruction on how to do it in the registry but Adobe does not show up in the "Utilities" menu.

If anyone has managed this can they please assist?

Cheers,

Peter.

Another Audition 3 user working from the Tool menu.  I haven't tried it with X2a yet.  Was working in X2 Producer following the directions listed above.

Yes, the instructions have not changed for some time. Works for me in X2a Producer 64bit Win7 with Sound Forge 9.

BTW, if you cannot get it installed with the instructions, I believe panup's duckbar has a GUI to make it easier.

If I'm not mistaken, there may be an issue with trying this with audacity I'll search through the old threads, but I believe it has to do with the format audacity natively using not being compatible with Sonar.

I'm curious - what exactly do you gain? I've never found editing in Sonar that I couldn't do.

We use Sonar as the best audio-Editor.
We digitaze thousands of tapes and vinyls for customers and restore and edit them with Sonar. We do this since 2005.
We have several Projects with over 50 hours of Audio ( in 1 Project !!).

We have tested several programs, and Sonar is the best and fastest.
(We work for large archives on radio and Television.)
So there ist no need für an other Editor.

We digitize tapes, vinyl, dat, md ... in broadcast and studio quality for publishers, public institutions and individuals.
    4 x Intel Quad-CPU, 4GHz Sonar Platinum (Windows 10 - 64Bit) and 14 computers for recording tapes, vinyl ...

    4 x RME Fireface 800, 2 x Roland Octa Capture and 4 x Roland Quad Capture, Focusrite .... Studer A80, RP99, EMT948 ...

@thambrecht. you're certainly entitled to your opinion. others might disagree.

i couldn't care less about what you use sonar for. i don't see any phase, frequency analysis or noise reduction in sonar without using a third party plug in.

a blanket statement like "there is no need for a wave editor in sonar" is quite laughable.

I haven't added it in to Sonar, but I use Goldwave quite a bit.  There are some things that can be done in Sonar that I find easier in Goldwave (probably because I'm more familiar with doing those tasks in Goldwave).

I know, I know, I need to learn more about how to do things in Sonar...

I was able to do it before in older versions but I can't get it to work now. I am using Sound Forge 10. I followed the directions right down to the letter.

I see it in the Utilities list but it just greys out when I click on it. I changed the type from WaveEditor to Generic. Now when I click on Sound Forge in the utilities menu it says Tool Can not be found.

I went over the ExePath in detail and I found a few typos that I fixed. Now it is exactly the way it needs to be. I still get the error Message.

The program starts when I click on the desktop icon. but it won't start from the utilities menu. My hope was I could start the program from the Utilities menu and the wav file I was working on will load automatically. This is what if did before in older versions of Sonar.

    Any Ideas?

I believe that Audacity is not set up to handle a command line input, but maybe that has changed.

Easy way to edit Utilities Menu: use Duckbar's Utilites Menu Editor. No need to hassle with regedit. Screen capture: http://www.sonarmods.com/...editor-1-0-build14.JPG

I hate when people dismiss the actual question by telling you thee is no need to use the tool you want to use. There are lots of scenarios in which you would want to use a third party sound editor. Just because YOUR workflow does not require it, do not dismiss the needs of others. A person may have a plugin that is tethered to a third party app (someone mentioned noise reduction). person may require analyzing tools not available in Sonar. I do what I can in Sonar, but for surgical matters, It's going to sound forge or audition. In any case, it doesn't matter. A question was asked and if you have no desire to help the person just move the f@%k on instead of being condescending. How would you feel if you asked a bartender to make you sidecar and he replied "I really think you should stick with gin"?
