Damn them...... Now I gotta buy the Deluxe Expansion pack for Trigger for $49. I'm torn between that and the CLA Pack. I like the idea of having unprocessed snare top, bottom, room and overheads. Rocky

That's it. I'll never do business with Slate again! But sersioulsy... if you but the "family" size box of Tristits (sp?) it has the same net weight of to regular boxes but costs $.03 per oz more. life is hard.

I really like the CLA cymbals. In fact the whole CLA package pretty much blows away SSD4 Deluxe!

I went to the SSD website to give the CLA sample tracks a listen and thought, wow, these sound pretty fantastic! Then, I realized that I was listening to the regular SSD samples (which I already have [facepalm]), so I found the CLA sample tracks and, I have to say, not impressed - the factory demos sounded punchier and more alive than the CLA demos, which sounded pretty flat and underwhelming to me. Maybe I just need to listen again in a different context - I'd hate to pass up a good deal on this only to kick myself later when it's full price.

I had a similar reaction at first but when the price went down I thought what the hell. I'm REALLY glad I did. They really seem to me to be a notch above the Deluxe samples. They are just more alive and real-in-the-room sounding. I don't seem to need any EQ on the snares. I usually boot the top end of snares to cut through but I haven't with these. IMO these samples have set the bar higher for Slate. I'm sure I'll still use other samples but these CLA's are easily the best I own.

My impression (and this comes from a CLA fan) is that the demos all sounded like the same drum kit. No matter what kick or snare was being used...with a teency bit of variation...they all sounded alike. bummer.

In actual use the snares and, to a lesser degree the kicks, are very different. There are only one set of toms and one set of cymbals but they are excellent.

Yeah, I noticed that as well, but figured that whoever made the demos was just being lazy and using the same kit over and over.

I'm really starting to like these cymbals more than my Zildjan Gen 16 library.
