Collide. (Electronica/IDM)

Hi all,

Trying to get back into the swing of things music-wise after my illness and the events of the past couple of years.

This is one from a couple of years or so back which i've remixed, reworked, refined and remastered, and probably a few other things begining with the letter "R" that i can't quite think of right now.

Hope you dig it and if you don't, thanks for listening anyway. :-)

I may give that distorted bass instrument a little bit more of a beat rather than just playing those whole notes. It would help the rhythm out a bit.

I enjoyed the heck out of this piece.  The mix came across so clean and full on my end. EAR CANDY at its best!  Nice to see you around again John.

Hi John , sounds perfect to me ! Its cool how you create your electronica music where everything fits perfectly .
Are you still using Project 5 or have you switched over to Sonar X 1 or X 2 ?
I'm still digging my Project 5 , everytime I record something new I find something within Project 5 that is interesting to mix with ao I get the sound I'm looking for .
Not all the time but I'm always trying to improve my mixes to end up with a clean sounding mix .

    Very nice - James

Welcome back, John. I hope that 2013 is a new beginning for all of us (my family sure could use it!).

Loved that bass just the way it is. Your rhythms are always insistent without being overly busy. Not sure how you do that.

BTW: did you ever get a chance to see this?

I like this a lot. Those manic drums are perfect counterpoint to the languid melodies. Love that portamento Moog-ish lead. Tasty track John, good to see you back.

The Band19:  Hey thanks for checking it out.  The long bass notes are intended as a contrast to the shorter beats and i think that's how i prefer it.

drumstixkev:  Hi Kev. Thanks for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed it.

Lynn: Thanks Lynn. Pleased you liked the production as that is the part i usually struggle with the most.

The NIght Fox: Hi James. Appreciate your kind words.  Yep i'm still using P5 and i think i always will as i can't afford to buy another daw and i'm so used to using P5 now i'd find it hard to change.  Hope you're feelig better today and hope you get well soon.

ohgrant:  Cheers Grant. Thanks for checking it and i'm glad you enjoyed the ride.

foxwolfwen:  Hi Shad. Thanks for the kind words. Great to be back and will speak to you soon.

jamesyoyo: Hi James.  Any praise from you makes me think i'm doing something right and is a great encouragment to me. Thanks.

Loved the track you made and i'm truly honoured that you would make a piece of music inspired by me.   Thank you.

jamesg1213: Thanks James. Appreciate your nice comments. Glad you enjoyed it.

Wookiee: Cheers John. Nice to see you too. :-)

Yea, the bass is fine.  A little growlier and wet resonance than a lot of idm, but hey, there ain't no rules.  And your stuff has always had that nice cross rhythms on the lead stuff.  It is good to hear it again.  I haven't been here on the songs site much, but haven't seen your stuff when I have.

As always excellent production - can hear all the manic lines clearly.  Nuff said.

I liked this.  I might have pushed that deep saw a little farther back in the mix, but that's just a matter of taste.  This all blended will in the mix, nice seperation.  Yea, the bass is cool.

Thanks AT, good to see you after all this time.  Glad you enjoyed the track.

    Still using P5?

Yeah i tried quite a few different bass sounds with this track, but only the squelchy, resonant types really worked well with it.  I think i had more trouble than i'd ever had trying to make the bass sit well in the mix without it sounding too dominating.

    blipp,

always enjoys your tracks.  Following on SC.  I haven't put P5 on my new computer, mostly using SONAR stuff lately.  I wish it did as much as it does as easily as P5.

I like the narly bass.  It fits well.

    happy writing.
