My Xmas Present...

...turned up yesterday and I've got it all integrated within my setup and apps today.

http://www.akaipro.com/mpd18

I picked it up off eBay as a private sale and got a third off the price of a new one which is why it arrived late.

It works and is making all the difference I expected it to and more, somehow keyboards just don't feel right for certain types of input.

I'd heard that it was likely I'd have to make a simple mod to improve the sensitivity but it seems just like the old MPC pads to me and suits me to a tee as it is.

Likely one of the most useful £50 gear purchases I've ever made.

Looks cool Jon.   I'm guessing you play it with sticks?  I may look into one. I bought a Simmons a while back that works for the most part, but for some reason on every VSTi host no matter where or how hard I hit the snare it's a side stick hit.

You probably could use sticks v/gently but it's really for touch-sensitive finger playing.  In fact with a set of sticks I'd likely convert it into a set of tiddly-winks in a matter of minutes.

It's just midi so it'll make any sound I feed it.

btw brother Grant, belated seasons greetings pal...
