So that's how it ends...

After "wasting" a bit of time learning to create videos from screen captures, I decided that I deserved a treat for my last session of the year and started to rehearse that cool guitar solo - pure fun, just candy, really, something I don't really allow myself to do that often. But that song called for it.

Well, apparently, my E string didn't feel like singing and decided to give up just as I was getting ready to record. No back up left - in fact, this was my last back up set for strings that size. Must be the first time in quite a while that I don't have at least a few spare sets handy. Oh well... Hopefully, GC is open on January 2nd.

Anyway, new year'e eve, my lovely lady works both tonight and tomorrow, so things are pretty quiet around here. I've finished studying (at last!) the Logic certification stuff, I am still totally brain-fried, so much that, for once, I don't feel like mixing or messing w/ plug-ins and studying. Say what?!!

I think the last time I voluntarily took a night off was, uh, back in Russia last spring. I often miss Moscow, did I mention it?

It's somehow disconcerting not to be working when I would have the opportunity and nothing else to do. But that's alright, I like disconcerting, every now and then. So I guess I'll be off to listen to some good old rock and roll.

But I had to take a few minutes to wish you guys and ladies a Happy New Year!

    Happy New Year Rain.

I know what you mean.  I have had the last 11 days off and I have not been able to muster up the inspiration to finish two of the songs I have been working on.  I guess I am a bit burnt out at the moment.  The songs are like 80% done instrumentally, but need to be finished lyrically.

The good thing is..... I spent the entire time with the family.  Back to work tomorrow.

Should I confess that I did end up studying DAW stuff? Yup...

I think that I've just realized why I feel tired and brain-fried, and it isn't just the time I spend working and studying.

In fact, I'm pretty sure I'd have recovered from my excesses if not for our furry little friends waking us up early in the morning. Since one of us has to get up and since I don't have to go to work, I'm the one cutting on sleep hours.

I'm getting to know the drill so well that this morning I woke up before they even started. :s But I love them so much, I wouldn't be w/o them.

I even want a few more.
    And dogs, too.
    And possums, I like possums.
    Bats.
    And a little baby cow.

And maybe a herring - nothing insane, a tiny one, just big enough to trim trees... I'm sure it can be done.

Plus, did I mention that I hate flying and that I usually start having nightmares the minute we book tickets for a flight? Doesn't help I guess.

And I bet he wouldn't have to listen to crap music played repeatedly either!  LOL

Another thread in which I complained about my neighbor who's been listening to the same live/extended version of a Of Monster and Man song everyday, 6 or 7 times a day...

And I already thought it was annoying halfway through the first verse the first time he/she played it...

Partly because I was "only happy when it rains" way before Garbage thought it was cool enough to write a song about it. ;)

Seriously, I've always preferred rainy days - I could just stay in, draw and listen to music w/o my dad yelling at me that I was turning green and needed to go outside in the sun. And that remained.
But mainly, I guess, as a teenager, for a while, I was obsessed w/ the Beatles song of the same name, I'd make drawings w/ that song title all over them, and it became sort of a signature. I don't remember exactly how, but it stayed.

Should mention that it also came in handy when I started to hang out and work w/ english speaking folks who couldn't pronounce my full name w/o dislocating their jaws. ;)
