Pisstake Pop Song (Whoop Whoop Song)

Hi everyone,

Wrote a song for one of my friends a couple of years back and decided to give it an overhaul.
He's a funny fella, witty and we all kind  of take the piss out of him when it comes to women (or budgies as he calls em!)

Maybe a comment on the mix nd stuff to get other ears would be great, thanks.

Sugar Daddy Shock (The whoop-whoop song)

Cian... I have said it before, and I will say it again. Shop your stuff. If you do not have one, perhaps find an agent... but this is far too good to waste posting online like this. When you post it like this you pretty much guarantee nobody serious will touch it, and you will have a very hard time selling it. But it is good enough.

A great band from Europe/70s "Budgie"

I think your song is very creative, and the performances and recording are excellent.

Sounds great. Sounds just like a modern pop song. Very high production values. Good job.

Awesome!  It has everything, great high energy beat and melody. Performances and mix are top notch. I noticed you had over 100 played in a few short hours yesterday...somebody's listening.
You have the performance and production part of it mastered.

Shad man, big thanks. I'm confident my stuff could be easily taken as a base for radio pop songs and everyday I'm leaning closer to taking a real stab at this thing. Either going the songwriter publishing route or going play live with a band.

Cheers Robby, metal budgie band? counterintuitive?! thanks for your comment.

James, many happy returns. Glad it kept interest as this is v important as is energy, which is only something that has crept into my music of late.

Chandler, feels great to be compared to those type of song which is something I am trying to match all the time.

Scotty, thanks, and if I could find my third thumb, would show em right back at ya!

ohgrant, thanks a lot. great to hear those words. Yea I noticed how it got 100 views in a few hours, it stand to reason since most of my friends would only love to hear the song considering the person its written about, he's a real character. But certainly I've noticed a little more traffic on my soundcloud account lately.

Lynn, I'm chuffed, the day you say something bad about my song I'm packing it in!

Thanks everybody, means a lot, It means more that someone takes the time to listen to stuff cos we all know how much damn effort and how long it take sometimes to assemble a song together! Sometimes my songs can go unnoticed with my friends but at least in here people will usually listen and can appreciate the time that goes in.

Very nice my friend. I think this is excellently done. I think any changes would be done simply based on personal preference. If I may offer my suggestions that are solely mix related..

Consider bringing the snare/hi hat sounds a bit more to the forefront. Maybe some paralell compression might bring them out a bit.

Consider bringing the bass down a bit in the mix. Maybe make it shine a bit, with a little bit more punch and clean up the low mid muddiness a bit.

Overall I think this is fantastic and well mixed. Good job buddy!

    teknotard, thanks for your comments and especially for your suggestions;

I have actually used parallel compression on the beat, I think as per James suggestion above, the snare needs a little more room. I yet have to fully master how to carve out the mid frequencies in a song to share them properly.

What do you suggest in the bass to make it "punch" more, Im guess there is some cutting required. I have it HPF to around 40hz at moment, I reckon somewhere around the low mid somewhere might take the mud out of it and then maybe boost the region that gives it some presence and attack??

Not really my thing stylistically speaking, but it has hit written all over it and to me sounds virtually radio ready as is other than that the snare could cut through some more - that said, I'm listening on lappy so make of that what you will. Vox sounds ace !

Not my favorite of yours Cian, but that's mostly the type of tune it is, not the performance or production.  While it may not be my taste, it is exceedingly well done, and I agree with Shad: you should shop this tune around... it is definitely marketable IMHO.

Abeautifulvirus, thanks for both comments! gonna check out your latest now.

Tim, more of it man! your killing me!

Thats ok James, its a pretty shallow stale genre, but the production is good at thats enough for now.

Chuck & Philz thanks guys, it was fun for sure and the production is probably what I am most proud of in this. Out of all my tracks this to me feels the most polished in terms of packaged like a radio ready pop track.

Alri Daryl, like the attention seeking buddy he is, he loved it of course! It spread pretty quickly amongst all our friends, especially women who got a real kick out of it.

Funny I was talking to him few weeks back over a few beers, the last version I done of this (2 years ago) , he went into his new job one day and didn't he hear the intro to the song (starting saw bass synth from the old version) being playing loud in the office with all these new employee faces looking at him for a reaction!!!
I'm hoping people play it when he's walking down the street full blast (in the car and wind down the window, embarrassing or wha!)

Actually here is the link to the old version!
