Corrupt project files - seen these yet?

I hit two odd problems this week - nothing I can't get around from all that I have learned lurking in this forum, but has anyone seen either of these issues?

1 - Work in a project for a while, click on save and the project goes away - like it was deleted.   I searched for the project and found it - under a hidden directory \Program Data...   The audio for the project was moved into a newly created directory \Cakewalk Projects\Images - and each audio file was converted into two seperate files with different extensions. Right now I don't recall but it was something like .MOV and .WA    The only thing I recall before the save was updating a track image.  Truly odd behavior.. I just don't go out of my way to create new directories and rename extensions and drop projects into hidden directories although I have been known to click on things I shouldn't  :o)   ..  No viruses found with either MS's MSE or Norton and it hasn't done this again.

2 - Add new drum program, copy midi data over, delete old drum program (because the program is no longer there), save, exit, then return. when the project tries to start up, the program coughs up errors "missing" mid file this and missing wave that.  I had created the project on my old PC, with Sonar 8.0, 32 bit - it had Session drummer 2.  I built a new PC, loaded X2 64 on WIN 7 - of course Session Drummer 2 not installed. Fired up the project, since Session Drummer 2 wasn't there, the initial load spit out a missing program message. In the browser, the old Session Drummer 2 still showed.   I added Session Drummer 3, copied over the midi track, then deleted Session Drummer 2 - checking the delete associated tracks box.  Saved the work and from then on, I get the missing data errors (probably 20 or so) for the associated patterns for the old Session Drummer 2 kit.  Odd...

Anyway - the first one is just plain old screwy. The second one, well I need a bit of help to delete the hidden drum information in the project thats causing the missing errors when loading that project...

And as always - thank you forum members...
