I NEED HELP!!!
Hey, I have Sonar X2 studio. I imported midi to a song i want to remix. I have Fast Track Pro USB interface, and Alesis Q25. When i import the midi song, i can hear play back thru the interface, but when i add a insturment, or midi track i cant hear it. I have a synth selected, but i hear nothing. I have the solo armed. I want to be able to play my midi keyboard during the playback, but i get nothing. I see the levels moving when i hit the keys, but no sound. Some one please help!! Last night, i had my midi song playing thru the interface, but my midi keyboard was coming thru my PC speakers, I want it all to go thru my nterface, so i can hear it thru my headphones.

Welcome to the forum! You don't tell about your routing. It's quite unclear to me how you have inserted the soft synths and how you are actually trying to do things. What soft synth, where? MIDI keyboard coming through computer speakers....Have you checked that the Fast Track is the only interface selected for use in SONARs preferences. There are clear (?) instructions about using softsynths in the manual and the tutorials, though. If you have a MIDI track with output to a soft synth and an audio track with input from that synth and output to your master bus, you should be good to go. Do you have Input echo on? BTW, this is the forum for SONAR 8.5 and older.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

When you say routing, what exactly do you mean? I'm new to producing. Do you have a nmber i can reach you at? That would help alot. Maybe you could help me through this issue.

Try to give us a clear picture of what you are doing. How is your signal routed: What kind of tracks you have, what are the inputs/outputs. What is connected where? Which tracks are audio, which are MIDI etc. I'm not going to pay for receiving foreign calls that may take hours :o/ I'm not THAT dedicated, sorry. And I don't have X2, so we would have difficulties in communication anyway. And if you can't put things in writing, I doubt we could get things understood by phone. As I said, I can not get a picture of how you're trying do things. You should study the manual and tutorials. It's not ovewhelmingly complicated if you approach to it in a rational manner, step by step.

I'm guessing you need to check your Output setting for the new midi track. Make sure it is pointed at what you want "making noise".

1.never import a midi song file if you want it to play as it was original composed. OPEN the file. 2. For GM MIDI INSERT the TTS-1 synth. 3. Point all the tracks to that synth ( how this is done in X2 I do not know for sure) 4. Disable you on board sound card, you do not need it and it will cause issues. 5. Go to MIDI options and set you input and output to M audio. ( NOT MS wavetable) 6. Insert a new MIDI track, assign it to the TTS-1 or what ever synth you wish and use a channel not already used by the original tracks. Turn on record and keep the focus on that track ( highlighted) Hit space bar to practice, "R" to record a new track. This is all explained in detail if you read the help and tutorials like every body has to do. This is complicated software that needs a lot of patients and time to learn. Good luck. PS Also , who started this term "producing" ?? I always thought in the music business the producer sat in a chair behind the engineer and told them and the musicians what everything should should sound like. They normally are not musicians , just a person with good ears and some engineering no how. So is this what people who use music software call them selves now? Just curious because I keep seeing this term used.

I gotta ask. Are people using fiberglass insulation in studios uncovered? Obviously it is most absorptive if uncovered but it is also a health hazard - highly irritating to skin, eyes and especially lungs.
