Display options mysteriously changed after opening a project
So I work on a project last night, everything normal & fine when I closed it. Opened it up this morning, and strangely enough the console view was barren. Turns out that for some bizarre reason, none of the options in the "modules" menu were checked - I had to recheck them. Also, all of the meters in the track pane have been switched to horizontal instead of vertical. I have never touched any of these options, like I say this all happened overnight. Has something like this ever happened to anyone else? I'm worried now in case the project has become or is becoming "corrupted"....I've had projects go screwy on me before and I've had to start them again from scratch.

Yea, sharke, there are all kind of anomalies (to use the NASA term) w/ X2. Last night a vocal folder suddenly "lost" the visual takes- the little clips that show up in the ubber folder. Everything was still in the sub folders, just the visual markers above. They came back, no harm, no foul, but it was disconcerting. Reopening a project means rechecking the assigned outputs if anything sounds different - sometimes they change. Lots of little quirks. They don't seem to do any permanent damage and "fix" themselves when fixed and the project is reopened. Because of the infrequent, random and ....elastic nature of the bugs it is impossible to report or replicate. Which makes them hard to fix. Hopefully the next update will solve some of these "opening" problems. I'd back edit the project to your last remembered "good" one, save it under a different name/number and then restore it and work w/ that one. Couldn't hurt, esp. if it does go corrupt later. @
https://soundcloud.com/a-pleasure-dome http://www.bnoir-film.com/ there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Urgh! Random oddities. Hate them! Another one that plagues me is that sometimes Sonar screws with my mouse's scroll wheel. I'll open a browser when Sonar is open and if I move the wheel the screen scrolls at a billion miles per hour. I have to restart to fix it.

Damn I was hoping that wasn't the case. I guess the good thing is that if I buy a brand new $3000 DAW then notation view should work properly on it, right?

I'm learning so much here. I'm also wondering if it would help if my room was acoustically treated. That might fix some of the GUI issues in Sonar.

Can't believe I almost fell for this BS advice which would have cost me over $1000. Turns out the problem was that I was not using the official Cakewalk mouse. I just ordered one for $999.99.

Sharke it might be due to a screenset.

This continual diatribe is doing nothing to solve his problems at all.

Bristol_Jonesey This continual diatribe is doing nothing to solve his problems at all. Ya got two users experiencing the same thing ... (See post 1 and 2) ... there is no solving it at this point. All they can do is send in a trouble report and hope enough people see it and complain about it and it gets resolved in the next patch. Although I have my doubts. (*) I was just trying to bring some levity to the situation, and the OP did join in on it by the way, so I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. If I would have chimed in and said, "Yeah, I've seen that kind of thing going on since X1 original release, it's not your system, it's just how the X series works.", then I would have got ridiculed for saying something bad about Sonar. What the hell, here goes ... since you want to keep it a serious conversation ... ( *) Yes, I have seen what Sharke described, starting with X1. It seems the longer you have a project open, the more times you open it, the longer you work with it, the more corruptible it becomes and you start to see annoying anomalies like he described until one day, the project just won't cooperate any more and you end up living with some old export you did 150 changes ago and call it a day. But it's our system since Sonar works perfectly for the vast majority of users, right? Of course that's right. Sorry for not agreeing. Sorry for agreeing. Sorry. @Sharke: I thought we were just blowing off steam and having some fun. Sorry if I derailed your thread. As a final word from me on the subject, yes, the entire X series does this from time to time in projects. It's best, in my experience, to scrap it and start over once this kind of weird thing starts because it only manifests in to something worse from there. Just my experience, as has been clearly stated, that's not the norm. Have a good day.
