Cakewalk Publisher: How useful is it? Do you use it?

It seems cool being able to create widgets and stuff but I'm not sure exactly where I'd dump them. I don't have a website yet and I'm assuming there are other more common/popular resources out there for this type of thing. Am I missing some other functions of this utility?

Is it worth spending the time to learn? I just don't want to waste time screwing around with it if it's not gonna be of significant benefit.

Cheers, all. Hope you are having a great day.

I would probably look into what other resources are out there for publishing music on a website. My guess is that there are a ton of free widgets for hosting a playlist, and that some of them will be better than Cakewalk's offering. Are you going through the manual and wondering whether or not to bother reading the chapter on Publisher?

Hiya, Sharke. Kind of. I mean the tut doesn't really say much but I opened up the help topic of Publisher and there's quite a bit of info in there. I'm just trying to be extremely thorough but there are certain things that aren't necessarily applicable so I just read the section as opposed to performing all the functions and creating notes. It's the notes that really take up a lot of time... but they are worth it.

    Cheers.

Yeah... I think I'm gonna skip all that web publishing stuff and tear apart the Playback section. It looks like it's gonna be a bear.

I do know most of this stuff but I'm snagging a whole ton of alternative methods and tricks along the way. I'm also digging in WAY beyond what the tuts explain and learning a bunch of extra stuff on my own.

No more playing around Mr. Sonar. You WILL comply to my demands!!

I found Cakewalk Publisher frustrating because it never worked the way it was supposed to.  I did have some success with it though after finding suitable workarounds, but in the end it was more trouble than it was worth for me and I eventually gave up on it.

I was using the version that came with Sonar 6.  Maybe it has improved since then.

Thanks for the insight guys. If I decide to use it in the future I'll read up on it then. Cheers.

Thanks, Scott. That's what I figured. I'm assuming this is a leftover from the days when there weren't as many options. I already use Soundcloud so that should do the trick for now. If I ever get around to building a website though it might be cool to play around with this. I'd imagine using Publisher and hosting the material myself would be cheaper than soundcloud if I started amassing an extremely large catalog... but obviously if it's going to be buggy or prohibitively difficult to use then I'll figure something else out. Cheers.
