Recording vocals

Hi guys, new to recording and need a little help! Whats the best way to record vocals without mic picking up my instrument tracks? im using Sonar VS and the studio 100. any help would be appreciated!

    hi! im using headphones for monitoring and my vocal track stil picks up my other tracks for some reason! only vocal track is armed to record. any help will be appreciated

    Hello RobRam, Edit: After rereading, not sure, but check the channel input/output assignments of your tracks in Sonar. There should be dropdown boxes "I" and "O" next to each track (im on x1, so im not certain what vs has). Make sure they are all assigned appropriately. HTH.

    hey! vs has the drop boxes! can u give me an example of how you set your I&O's up. maybe i am doing something wrong there. thx for ur help!!

    hi. my first track say is an instrument track where i laya drum track. my input is set to stereo VS In 5-6 snice thats where i'm running a Motif es 6 in stereo and my output is set to VS Out 1-2...next track say is a bass track input is same as above input and output because im using Motif bass sound. All other instrument tracks coming from motif setup same way.....Vocals which comes from using a RODE NT1-A condensor mic is set to left VS-100 main, right VS-100 main or stereo VS-100 main for input and VS Out 1-2 as my output.

    I figured the problem out!! I set my mic input wrong! Thanks for all help!
