CPU/MOBO Upgrade Question

I'm a very happy X1 user who is very excited about the possibilities I've been looking at for X2.  The problem is that I'm still using XP and my current motherboard is not compatible with Windows 7.  I really value stability, so I am not interested in Windows 8 right now - too new.  I've been looking into processors and motherboards for an upgrade, but this stuff is all greek to me.  When I look up reviews, it's all about video games.  Not sure how that relates to audio production.

Here's my scenario - this machine is primarily a DAW with some light video editing.  I record and mix projects that frequently get up to 40-50 tracks of audio.  I'm not using too much for synths - I'm into real people playing real instruments.  My studio is semi-pro.  I do some paid work for others.  I produce my own material and my band some for fun and some for sale.

Here's what a friend has recommended - about $200 from Newegg:
AMD A8-3850 Llano 2.9GHz Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU
ASUS F1A55-M LE R2.0 FM1 AMD A55 (Hudson D2) Micro ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

I would have to upgrade a couple of expansion cards too since I'm currently PCI and all the new stuff is PCIe, but those are more generic.
An apparent plus for the Llano series is that is has a built-in GPU that will support dual monitors natively rather than needing a separate card.

For those in the know, does this look like a reasonable system?  I don't mind spending more if I need to, but I don't want to throw money at some benchmark test for a video game that I'll never play.

Thanks,
Seth
