X2 and X2a - continued instability

Is X2a as stable as X1 was for anyone?

X2 is crashes all the time for me, I revert to X1, which remains stable for me.  Almsot every crash in X2, brings up the automatic error report dialog, which I always choose to send to Cakewalk.  Not sure what the deal is, but the constant crashes have cost me alot of time and frustration.

Here is to hoping for X2 B!  I can't have the only DAW that X2 doesn't like.

Hi Mike, generally,  at what point is the program crashing? Is it when you are pulling modules into the ProChannel, moving between screensets or when you are recording audio etc?

Backwoods - It crashes at various times.  Sometimes when fishing for sounds in DP, sometimes upon playback.  I was thinking it was the CE, but I stopped using them and I still crash.  I wish there was a common denominator to this, but there does not appear to be.  The last crash was, setting up soft synths, DP and PLAY.  Both Dimension Pro and Play get used heavily in my productions, so there was nothing unusual about the set up.  No plug ins or PC modules.

Bob - I'll post my specs, do you have something in mind your thinking might be the cause?  I have used the same system for 3 years and 4 versions of Sonar.

AMD Phenom x's 4 Black Edition
Asus MB - Cant remember the model atm
    8 gigs RAM
    Radeon 4870x's 2 video card
    M-Audio ProFire 610
    Axiom 61
    4 internal HD's and 2 external
    OS - W7 64 bit

Thanks for stopping in guys.  I hope X2 eventually works on my system as well as X1 does.  X1 was full of crashes until X1C or D as well.  Whatever they did there, I hope they do again :)

Hi. I too am having problems with X2A. I run a Clevo D901C platform with a Q9550 quad core, 8 GB RAM, 9800 GTX video, 3 600Gb Intel series 320 SSD's using SONAR X2A and East West sounds. I use a M-Audio Profire 610 as my sound interface with a Roland RD-700GX as my MIDI instrument routed through the Profire 610. This baby should be more than powerful enough to handle all this. Regarding the program, for one thing I cannot seem to select a clip and expot MIDI from it. Second, everytime I try to create an instrument track using the Play64 engine from East West Sounds, it hangs the program completely and irrevocable. I have to go to  task manager to shut it down and start all over. Third, if I import a previous project and try to work on vocal stuff, specifically if I am using and tweaking with Wordbuilder, the program will again freeze very unexpectedly (and frequently) and I again have to shut it down. These are not problems I have with X1 or earlier versions. I' ve used SONAR now for five years, since version 7. I still have versions 8.5 and X1D loaded on the machine for older projects, but none of them have done anything like this.

I had some serious problems with my first X2a installation and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I guessed (because I couldn't remember) that I didn't run the installations, including Dim Pro and Rapture, as administrator. I re-installed, making sure I ran an install as admin when I could, and now everything works fine with no problems. This may not be where your problem stems from but it was for me.
