Glad to hear it worked good for you live. I've used it many times myself without a problem. I've not used X1 or X2 for live performances yet, but I'm sure it will do the same as I'm used to with 8.5.
You probably won'r get any feature improvements due to Sonar not really catering to being a "live" app. I actually like the old playlist we used to have in Cakewalk 9. You didn't even have to open Sonar...you just clicked this thing and it played. I really miss it as well as Virtual Piano.
But getting back, my use is a bit more involved than yours for life. I literally have my entire show in Sonar via click track and midi patch changes. It changes my pre-amp patches as well as our keyboard patches in real time so it's one less thing we have to worry about. We can still manually change if we vamp something for a longer period of time which is cool. But it sure is nice to NOT be tied down to my pedal board to where Sonar just changes all my patches perfectly and to the numbers. We play to a click track that only my drummer can hear, but we're so used to it we're on auto-pilot and everything works perfectly. :) We also trigger sound effects from it too as they are inserted in with our live project file. It's a bit tedious to set up, but once it's all done, it's a blessing. :)
