F11 no longer inserts marker
Hi!
This is in X1d, but I'm hoping someone has experienced this or can point me in the right direction.
I was using Sonar one day and noticed that F11 no longer added markers while in track view. It is set to do so in the key-bindings dialog though.
Any idea why? In the dialog, F11 has a little * (asterisks) next to it, but I couldn't find what that means within "help".

Full screen mode I believe (consistency with IE, Firefox etc).

I don't have any experience with X1 but if it was inserting markers with F1, and then it wasn't... could be your F Lock key has toggled off the F key functions? Easy enough to check and rule out.

There's an F Lock key??? haha I should check that out. I know about caps lock, scroll lock, num lock. But I've never stumbled across the F lock. Cool beans.
I had installed X2 but went back to X1, and am thinking that perhaps that messed with some key bindings. Thx everyone!

Just curious - why did you revert to X1d from X2? Bob Bone

"why did you revert to X1d from X2?" Because X1d Expanded and Win 7x64 are a "mature and robust" audio production environment. Not trying to be contentious here, I'm using X2a, but ONLY for personal non-critical stuff. We're still at least 1 patch away. At Foo, The "*" indicates you have modified a keyboard shortcut. F11 does not insert a marker on my system, M does (as noted by g_randy above). I've extensively modified my Key Shortcuts, there's an import/export dialog in the Prefs. Tom

X2 has metering issues where the meters would just stop working. Also, there were too many issues with track lanes.
I don't have time to see if the latest updates have anything fixed. I'm doing paid sessions with clients present and I don't trust X2 yet to perform smoothly.
I am not trying to be negative against X2, it's just the reality of how my personal update-to-X2 process went down. If I catch show-stopping bugs within the first 30 mins of using the program it tends to throw me off of it until I have time to make sure the updates are working properly.

I am not trying to get into an X1 vs X2 thread by any means here, but I am not confident with X2 because it simply had more than one show-stopping bug within 30 mins of launching it for the first time. A few oddities is ok I guess, but not being able to mix within a half hour is not acceptable.

Yeah - I was just curious - Have you posted your issues? And have you installed the X2a patch? Again, just curious - not trying to start a row with folks. Bob Bone

Hey Bob, No I completely understand. I want to express my view but also not start any arguments with fellow users. Being a web-developer, I fully understand that every different user could have a different system and Cake is "expected" to have this software work perfectly for every system with a million hardware configs and software configs... it's kinda mind-boggling when you think about their jobs. Pile on top of those endless system configs, 64-bit vs 32-bit compatibility, endless plugins, patching as well as building the next version (X3), etc. Insane haha. I'm sure I'm not even considering a lot of issues they must deal with. Anyways, I did post about my issue, and I think I did send in a formal issue with the problem-reporting system. I think X2a has reportedly fixed many, or all, of the issues I had. However, I don't have the time to sit and test things. I didn't even download it because from past releases, it's often a few patches until things work more-or-less than initially expected when bought. If I spend 30 mins with a mix and get nowhere with X2 due to some bug that may happen, I then have to spend another 30+ mins going back over it using X1. I am then behind schedule. If it happens in front of a client, that reflects terribly on me and shakes their confidence in me and their own product because their mind begins to play tricks. But... such is the life of an ITB engineer these days right? haha
