Sonar X2 Producer and Novation Automap 4.6

Hi,

I am user of sonar X2 combined with some keyboards and also a Novation Zero SLMKII as mixer surface. As you know, Novation products comes with the Automap software, an user friendly software of map midi controlers (similar to ACT but specific for Novation produucts).

I am trying to config Automap v.4.6 with Sonar X2, but Automap doesn't recognized Sonar X2 as a DAW. With previous version of sonar (8.5 and X1) there were no problems linking both softs and they were recognized inmediately.

My questions:
Is there anybody with the same issue?
Do you know (since Sonar X2 has been launched just few months ago) if Automap is not compatible with Sonar X2 yet?
And, Is posible an update from Cakewalk or Novation to solve this matter in the next weeks/months?

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards.

Yup, I've got the same problem with my 49SL MK2. I pretty much just use it with the vst's and not as a control surface for X2.

I've had my Novation SL37 ReMote keyboard that came with a relatively new early Automap Version way back in 2006-2007. There was no Sonar template back then, when a number of us were asking for it. The fact that they STILL haven't done one tells me they never will. Meanwhile, PreSonus Studio One DAW has only been out for a few years now, and there already is a template for that one. So what does that tell you? Cakewalk's been around a long time - a lot longer than Novation's Automap. Yet PreSonus's DAW is so very new, and they did one for that DAW instead. Hello? Clearly they're avoiding Cake's Sonar - whatever their reasons are. I gave up long ago, in addition to which, Automap is just one big confusing messy piece of garbage that I haven't wanted to use for years now, after wasting SO MUCH TIME on it. Many have had similar experiences with it. Will they be doing something on it in the next few weeks\months? Don't hold you're breath. My advice - move on right past it. Waiting & hoping proved completely futile for me.

Automap doesn't have X2 configuration notes yet.  Use the X1 instructions. Go to the directory where you installed Automap (C:\Program Files (x86)\Novation\Automap on my system).  In there look for the directory "Setup Guides".  Under that will be a directory for SONAR X1, and under that will be directories for various devices.  Pick the one you have, and follow the steps in the rtf files where it tells you how to configure the control surface in SONAR.

When I asked the same question I received a quick reply from a Focusrite support member (also a member of this forum), that an update to automap would be forthcoming and will include X2 in the setup wizard.

I have the same controller and software version you describe.  Following the X1 wizard instructions but with X2 open, I was able to properly define the controller first try.

Now all I have to do is to get anything in Sonar to work with the Novation....

Related info from another thread here:

As mentioned, see the instructions for setting up Sonar in the referenced documentation.

Automap actually works quite well with X2 ~ everything just isn't "automatic" by default.
A little patence, effort and manual reading goes a long way...
