Sonar X2 signal chain question ProChannel FX Chain module vs regular effects bin

I'm trying to figure out the signal chain, but I have trouble understanding the signal flow diagram in the manual. I can add fx to the channel’s effects bin, but also to the ProChannel FX Chain module. I understand I can ´route the ProChannel signal prior to the channel’s effects bin (pre) or after the effects bin (post)´ using the Post button, according to the manual. I assume this is the regular effects bin. But where does this leave the ProChannel FX Chain module in the chain? Is there a preferred way of working? Should I add, for instance, a VocalStrip plugin to the regular FX bin or the ProChannel FX chain?

If you like easy to find tiny GUIs with small knobs and hard to read text you might want to use the FX bin in the Inspector that Cakewalk calls the Prochannel.

If you like using any VST you want with a generously sized gui, designed by the developer to make the app easy to use, then you can use the old FX bin.

You can mix or match stuff from both bins... they both sound just like what ever you put in them... they both sound the same.

    Have fun.

    best regards,

The Prochannel signal flow is from top to bottom. The PC itself can be pre or post FX bin. As to where you add an FX depends on the signal chain you want and your preferred method of working. I personally use the PC as much as I can, simply because as well as sounding great it has done away with the disorganised mess of countless regular VST windows.

All the regular VSTs I use now have FX Chain interfaces whether they are part of a regular chain or the only VST in the chain. The PC was great as it was, now VSTs can be added to it as an FX chain it has got even better.
