Komplete 8 and Sonar X1 Producer.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if Komplete 8  is compatible with sonar X1 producer and Windows XP. If anyone is running Komplete 8, does it come with a lot of sample loops, and is it worth spending the extra money to get Komplete 8 ultimate over the standard Komplete 8 package. Thank you.

Komplete 8 is not supported on Vista and XP. But many reports suggest it installs and runs on XP, I can confirm it runs on Vista 64.

Applications like Kontakt really benefit from access to more than 3.6 GB of RAM particularly if you use the "time machine" sample stretching functions.  So you may find performance is less than optimum on some of the more advanced Kontakt instruments and you will be freezing tracks a lot. There are a few third party libraries that specify 64 bit only.

There are some loops in Komplete, but its more of a collection synths and sampler instruments. I suggest you look at the products in Komplete on the NI website and try some of the Demo versions.

Thanks for your reply. What I am looking for are as many sample loops as possible, with as many different instruments and styles as possible. Any advise on where to purchase these?

Komplete 8 Ultimate is my go-to collection of synths and sounds.

I cannot comment, however, on what of those sounds are loops, as I do not use loops.

Kontakt 5 is a FABULOUS sample player, and comes with Komplete 8.

Another is FM8.  FM8 is like a steroid-packing version of the DX technology, with great on-board effects.  I just downloaded - for FREE - literally TENS of thousands of sounds converted for use with FM8.  These sounds are a HUGE collection of system exclusive banks of sounds from pretty much every single DX-type synth Yamaha ever made - all of the DX instruments, DX7, DX9, TX816, etc.

Anyway, I wish you the best on your quest,

    Bob Bone

Ooo let's have a link for that download Bob! I love FM8. And you're right, the effects are great.

To the OP: not sure what you're looking for in terms of "loops." Komplete is not really a collection of loops, it's a collect of synths and effects. However there some synth presets that could be described as loops. Some of the included Kontakt content could be described as loops, for instance some of the Factory Library, and Evolve Mutations, and George Duke Soul Treasures (not sure which of these are part of Ultimate though). Also the Drummer series in Kontakt comes with thousands of MIDI loops many of which are great.

It really depends on what kind of music you're looking to create. If what you do involves little more than putting loops together, then that's not really what Komplete is all about. You will however get some top class effects and synths. Most of everything I do involves Komplete in some form. Why not go through all the demo tracks on the website? You can hear for yourself what the synths and effects sound like.

I think Ultimate is worth it over the standard package, you get a hell of a lot more, including way more drum kits, Scarbee Funk Guitarist (which I'm just starting to appreciate), George Duke Soul Treasures (which I haven't found a use for yet), Session Strings (which sounds pretty good) as well as all the vintage compressors and tons more effects. However I don't think I would have upgraded from the standard Kontakt had Native Instruments not put the upgrade on sale last summer. I don't know if that offer still stands though.

It might be worth waiting for Komplete 9, if it's not too far off (to be honest I have no idea). I'd be interested to see what new stuff they add to Ultimate, and what previous elements get upgraded. If they add the Rickenbacker bass to it then I'd upgrade like a shot.

In your earlier thread I recommended you look at Zero G I don't think there is one all purpose pack but with careful selection you could build a good selection in the musical styles you are intrested in for the price of Komplete.

It really depends on what you want to do, but from other posts it seems you are a guitarist. If your intention is to produce backing tracks for your guitar playing rather than DJ type looping there is another option you could consider. Band in a Box I do not use it myself but there are quite a lot of users on these forums, but most of the threads are in the Software forum. Check out its Real Tracks feature.

    As an extra.

Komplete 8 work also perfect with SONAR X2 x64 on Windows 7 x64 perfectly.
Highly recommend plugins especially KONTAKT 5, MASSIVE, TRANSIENT SHAPER, REAKTORSOFTTUBE Plugins, BATTERY, GUITAR RIG, FM8, ABSYNTH...

Howdy - I am trying to remember where I downloaded those sysex banks for all of the Yamaha DX* FM sounds, but in any case each bank is only about 5k in size, so I would be happy to zip them all up and send them to whoever would like them.  Just send me a PM with a private email address and I will send along all of what I have.

The banks are incredible, even including presets from things like the GS-1 and GS-2, as well as literally all of the different flavors of FM synths that Yamaha made.

I just did a select all, and I happen to have 766 banks of DX* sounds (TX, DX, etc.).

They open up just fine in FM8, and sound great, although there are some clunkers, there are THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of usable sounds.

Soooooooooo, whoever wants them - send me a PM with an email address.

FWIW, I used to run Komplete 8 Ultimate on my XP machine with SONAR X1 without any problems.
It runs a whole lot faster nowadays though, on the Win8 64-bit one I use now.

    HEY, LUDVIG

You sent me a PM asking for the DX banks to be sent to you for FM8, but you did not include a private email address so that I could attach the compressed folders for you.

Please check your private messages and respond.

To the others who asked me for them - I just finished sending each of you 6 different emails, each containing a compressed folder of already-converted banks of DX sounds from Yahama, ready to go in FM8.  The instructions for where to place the banks are contained in the first email.

If anyone else wants these - just send me a PM, WITH a private email :), and I will send them to you as well.
