It doesn't say how much the job pays, but knowing the Royals it won't be a lot. They know they can keep the rate low and count on the "prestige" of working for the Royal Family being enough to attract motivated applicants. I've read how much Buckingham Palace employees get paid in the past and I wasn't impressed.
But you can't blame them. Slap-up swan dinners don't come cheap.

It's not just the money. Just think of the opportunity to impress the Royal Family with the linguistic skills you learned at the Dick Van Dyke Chimney Sweep Academy!

The academy was good, but when I visited the UK and got a refresher course from Jonbouy & Straummy all I learnt was "Roight!".
